Okay, since we've been under a Blizzard Warning for the past 12-13 hours (and it extends for 6 more hours), I thought I would brave the winds and head out to get a few pictures during a lull. It honestly isn't an amazing amount of snow (we have about 10 inches so far from this storm), but I thought it was worth capturing for my kids' memory books. Enjoy (Sorry the quality is a bit low, I was a bit too cold to try setting up the tripod, etc, and just did some point-and-shoot)













And about 3 minutes after I took those, I got this one, of the house on the hill behind us (the lull in the storm had apparently ended!):

i was hoping to get some snow from this storm, but only have maybe 1/2 inch so far.

Well, at this point, it is 520pm here, and it is still falling. I went out and measured in a low spot, and we have 14 inches. The drifts easily surpass three feet in many areas, and our county is under a level 3 snow emergency, meaning no driving allowed by anyone but emergency vehicles! While snow is common in Ohio, this is certainly a rare treat (for someone who loves it as much as I).

We got about a foot or so where I live in cincinnati. I will post pics asap. Oh and as a bonus treat. The ohio river is filling into my yard. Nothing like a snow and flooding to start March of with a bang.

I feel your pain, Barne! We live in a very hilly area north of Columbus, with the base of our property lying in a very low ravine-type area. Coincidentally, that is where the driveway resides also. So, come thaw time, we won't be going anywhere, again. We ended our snow accumulation last night around 9pm, with a grand total of just over 17 inches. How'd you do?

Here are a few pics from my Cincinnati Blizzard. Unfortunately the frozen water in the background is NOT a lake it is the OHIO river coming to pay me a visit. *Sigh* I can't imagine what will happen when all the snow is done melting!

A close friend of mine moved to Mason, OH a few years ago. He and his family had lived on Southern California all their lives.

Few months later he calls and says, "We're buying a new house!". I reply, "That's great! Make sure the contractor puts in a concrete driveway." He says, "Nah, don't need that.".

Six months later in the dead of winter I give him a call to ask they are enjoying living in snow for the first time. His wife answers the phone and says, "Oh this isn't a good time... he's outside shoveling the snow off the driveway and swearing up a storm!". She opens the door and holds the phone out, and I can hear him over the phone... "!@#$'ing gravel!!!".

I called him later.

Yeah, the concrete driveway is a must. Shoveling ice and snow off of a gravel (or even worse: dirt and grass) drive is horrible.

Our snow is 3/4 gone already, with the rising temperatures. It sucks, since I waited all winter long for this storm and then it all disappears within a week. Geesh. Oh well, it was beautiful while it lasted.
