A bad day in town

Well, its true.... Katrina has officially messed up my town. In all cash that has been raised to help those in need, Mobile Alabama, is OVERFLOWING with Mississippians and Lousianians who have lost their home. We now have the traffic flow of Miami FL, which is one car moves per 898461 hours. And the restaurants have up to a good 2 hour waiting. And thats if you dont specify a section. (Ex: Smoking, Non)

Its terrible, we went out to eat last night, and ended up going to a restaurant which serves Rib in almost every meal, and then.. when we sit and order drinks ready to eat, we order a half slab, and they said no ribs. So... we left. I mean what else is there to eat when more than 75% of the Menu is nothing but rib. People looked like they were ordring ham and cheese sandwiches.

We ended up waiting another hour to get into Roadhouse. Where we mostly got filled on the peanuts we get while waiting for service.

Not only is katrina affecting those who were in the area of the storm, but its affecting those who had barely anything to do with the storm.

Since the Red Cross is giving abour $500.00 per person that lives in your home, there are NO SALES anywhere. Sales as in specials. So things are even MORE expensive for those who werent affected, because when you have so many people desperate looking for things that they will pay MORE than the original price, then they tend not to let their prices down.

Its terrible...

How can a storm that hits not even half of the United States, screw up the whole countries economy.

Something needs to be done. But unfortunately, nothing is going to be done.

I guess you can be glad you have the transportation to get to those places you want to go. You should also be glad that you have your family with you when you go to those places. A lot of people lost everything they own and/or love. Be thankful for what you got because it may not be there tomorrow.

What I wouldn't give to know my family could go to a restaurant and order ham and cheese sandwichs.
But I guess because they are "refugees" a lot of folks consider them bad or lesser people.

I really hope those annoying homeless people get out of your town soon Cobra so you can go back to having a normal life again.

Just be glad all you have to !!!!! about is the "refugees" and the "hardship" they're causing you. What a cold, heartless post. Unbelievable.

Re: A bad day in town

I thought it was bad enough for those that defiantly stayed in a place that they new was lower than sea level, with only a small leavy "only good for a leval 4 storm" between them and death, knowing that a leval 5 was coming directly towards them,,, instead of thanking their god that they are still alive, to !!!!! at the whole nation for not coming to their aid before saving other peoples lives, while they themselves are fairly safe in a shelter.
[If they had it to do over again, and know what was about to happen with out knowing the out come, I'm sure that they would find a way to get out "EVEN IF THEY HAD TO WALK" ]. [those that absolutly couldn't, I feel a little for, but even "THEY" knew the whole time that when New Orleans was built it was known imanent that one day it will happen,,, AGAIN!!!. They just took the chance when they didn't move to Mobile,,, beside of ME, or else where years ago]
BUT,,, I now think that YOU should have been standing on that house top,, water at YOUR ANKLES,, after, watching YOUR WIFE BE WASHED AWAY WHILE HOLDING YOUR BABY AS YOU WERE TRING TO GET UP THERE,,, hoping and praying,,,, "PLEASE,,,, don't let the water come up any higher",,,,,,,,,,, then have some one post this crap about YOU setting in the resturant after escaping with nothing but your life "maby the clothes you are wearing" and only the $500.00 wandering where the rest of your family is!!!!! ,,,,,"ARE THEY EVEN,,,, STILL ALIVE" then see what you would have to say.
I cut about 20 mins of typing out of this post [that you don't want to hear] ,,,, I'm goina send whats left and leave this thread before I add it back.

People lost their homes, possesions, jobs, and even their loved ones and you can sit here and say you are pissed because you didn't get to stuff your face with ribs? Give me a break. How selfish. Maybe instead of complaining about how inconvenienced you are you should be thanking your lucky stars for what you do have.

Re: A bad day in town

If I may, Cobra has been very supportive and concerned for the people effected by the hurricane, and although i understand that this is a very sensitive matter I don't believe his post was intended to be a rant about the people effected. But rather how the hurricane's effects are still being felt. If I had lost everything I believe I would be very annoyed at inconveniences such as waiting to eat and such. with tensions high and moral low things like this burn the nerves.

From what I know of Cobra, he isn't attacking or blaming the victims of this crisis, he seems to be, more or less venting along side of them.

Like i said, I know this is a very sensitive topic, there are a lot of people trying to get back on their feet and looking for reasons to continue living. I understand people want to defend those effected, or defend themselves if they feel someone is condemning them. but I am positive that it was not Cobra's intension to do either. he, like other Gulf cost residents is also feeling the stress and despair cause by Katrina.

I've never figured out how to be gracefully humble without appearing weak.

Nor have I figured out how to be gracefully passionate without appearing arrogant.

In the end, I always seem to be arrogant and weak instead of humbly passionate.

Re: A bad day in town

Just to clear something up, this may have come out in the post worng, but it wasnt anything to !!!!! about, I was simply showing how bad things could get and how far along it could affect towns. It wasnt a bitching post at all. It may have come out that way, but its not how I wanted it to come out.

I know that people are hurt with either loss of family or worry about family, and I know it because we've been through several hurricanes, and we know that we worry. It really wasnt ment to come out as a bitching statement, trust me I had no intension of it.

Like I stated above, it was to show how bad and far along it affected towns.
