My family has never done anything the easy way. I swear. But all is well no worries.

7lbs 10.25 ounces

My daughter and wife arrived at the hospital Sunday morning at 8:30 am EDT. My son-in-law and I arrived about 9 am. Heather was "leaking" pretty steadily. Later that day her water broke totally. Ethan decided he'd stay up where he was comfortable and not drop on down and get ready for a brave new world. Say around midnight she was still only about 2cm dilated. All kinds of monitors I think some and some meds.

Come around 8 AM, still 2cm. A couple of hours later the monitors and meds come off and we start walking. (Knowing what could go on my wife sent the hubby for a shower and some food.) Heather and I are laughing cause I'm making assinine jokes about the walking being real child birth. Around 2pm she hits 4 cm. Now we're seeing more contractions, back on goes the monitors and meds. Around 4pm she hits 6cm and it's the epidoral (sp?). Good thing cause Grandpa here doesn't care to see his daughter in pain. So we skip ahead a few hours
6:35 he starts to crown. He starts to come out but the cord wraps the neck, the Doctor handles it and he's born at 6:56 pm. They rush the little guy past my wife and they are working hard on him. All kinds of doctors and nurses around.

I can't even describe how professional and courteous the staff was. hell my wife was impressed and that takes some doing.

So Ethan spent a few minutes with his Mom, and he's been placed in NICU where they can watch him good, make sure his breathing steadies a bit.

So that's the first chapter in the story of Ethan, our first grandchild.
