Anyone good with photo editing?
If so I got a few questions there is a few pictures I either want to over ride another colour and want to make it look "authentic (sp?)" and then there is black, white, and grey scale pictures I would love to add colour too such as alot of my ships images...
Okay as for colour images and overighting the original colour of the image but only the object... now there is alot of diffrent shades of the "new colour" I know the "old colour" will serve as guidelines but when I colour in a light shade into a darker shade it does NOT blend togeather and I am not sure how to make it look smooth and as if they fade into each other as the original colour of the image does... just can not figure it out... because even if I use the "Clone Brush" feature it doesn't really blend it the way I need it too... that only works for small chunks of image missing or trying to crudley fade one thing into another... not quite the blending I am looking for... There is an image I am working on currently now, the image was originally scanned in 2 diffrent sections... though if you take the two images and put them togeather where there is no longer a gap you can tell they do not exactally line up because were they connect some of the image is missing... the "Clone Brush" feature worked there but there is a part where the dark and light is suppose to fade into each other and the clone brush either makes it to dark or to light and does not look smooth at all Shadeing something that isn't "glossy" such as windows and want to colour interior or cloth sitting behind the window how do you go about shadeing that with a major glass glare in the way because the original image DOES have some (but very little) of the original colour but I can not quite get it right ---------------------------- Now for black, white, and grey scale images the biggest question I have always wanted to know (if there is an answer to it) I only got paint shop pro and sometimes I use MS Paint and that is it for "fancy" things anyway how do you know what colour the shade of white, grey, and black scale image is representing? Is there a chart somewhere were I can look it up? I do not mind if it takes awhile I like to do this type of thing (when I got time that is) and of course them colour questions above... turning the black, white, and black scale into colour I will still run into blending colours and shades togeather so if anyone knows any help is appericated! ^_^ Edit: Oh yes another question... Okay say the original image was in colour and the layers you were currently working on are also in colour... say you wanted the change the "original image" from colour to black, white, grey scale and leave the "layers" left in colour. So you end up with a black, white, and grey scale "main" image and "coloured layers" on top of it making it "appear" as colour. But everytime I do this it turns EVERYTHING into black, white and grey scale... but yet I can take a black, white grey scale image.. increase colours and then put layers and the colours WILL show up on top of the black, white, and grey scale image so I do not know why I can not reverse the image -RMS Carpathia- ![]()

Re: Anyone good with photo editing?
Yeah I was thinking of directly sending her a priavate message before I did this thread but I figure any advice anyone would be willing to give out would be good and have it open freely incase someone else also has a similar question if they so happen to enjoy stuff like I do
Edit: Where is Atlas when you need her? I am starting to get indepth with the shadowing sense I already got the right colour of the object I want so now shadeing it to make it look realstic and that is where I am running into problems with the "blending" -RMS Carpathia- ![]()

Re: Anyone good with photo editing?
I was actually a phototoner ft for the newspaper I work for. Now I only do it occasionally but when I did it ft I held one of the top 3 optimum imaging quality positions on our coast for over a year.
I can prolly do it. hehe PM/icq me =D Edit: Is psp kinda like photoshop, or is it like almost a copy of photoshop, or is it completely different? We need a forum for this stuff! Last edited by atlas607; 29th January 2007 at 04:22 PM. |

They are in the same family, but someone who is familiar with paintshop would get confused when using photoshop, but once you get the hang of the difference its a breeze. So yes, they are different and they both have their own positives ... hope that helps ... now for helping carpathia give me a few mins and i will try to help you out as well. Re: Anyone good with photo editing?
Sorry it took me so long to reply... I been busy and plus I wanted to quickly throw togeather Paint Shop Pro 7... now I am sorry if it is confusing I am not very good at doing stuff like this... You will see in the first image at the top it looks like a really big huge mess... main problem is I ran out of room on the top and "tried" to colour code it but haha some of it had to go underneath and just man... it is crazy but in order... hopfully it isn't TOO bad to follow but I have a feeling it will be and I did not want to start over... haha
This already took awhile to put togeather (amazingly) anyway let me know if you need to know what does what (if I know that is) Okay the only tools I have been using so far is the: Paint Brush, Eraser, and the Airbrush. I am amazed at all I haven't used MS Paint yet... usually in alot of my images I use MS Paint for something but so far it is solid PSP7 As you can tell I am "currently" working with a car and I want it to look as realistic as possible... I wanted to start on a "coloured image" a car first because It is simpler than a ship and wanted a "smaller" project to practice on before I hit the black, white, and grey scale images and sense this one is already in colour I figure that is easier to work with as well? I also trying to make the mirror turn into a metallic silver instead of a "red" that it is now (if I have not already mensioned it) Any advice? And I HARDLY use ICQ... but if you got a day and time you be on there I can log on it... I actually do not like that program all too much which is why I am not on it but I want to thank all of you for any help you can provide... I been wanting to do the black and white ship images but with all the wires and diffrent colours on the ship I figure stating with a "car" yet another metallic critter would be a good practice and a start on them Plus I want it to look like my green car I got in Kentucky and I got no pictures of him (yet) so I am making myself one ^_^ Right now as you can tell... the car is VERY flat... very cartooney looking... I want to add shadows as I mensioned in the first post but I can not get it to blend "realsticly" I either make it to bold and the light and dark will not fade into each other or I get really jagged edges going and... looking stupid And sorry once again for my very messy looking way of showing PSP7... I wish I had photoshop... I hear it is ALOT better to work with when it comes to images than this program but PSP7 and MS Paint is all I got to work with haha! Edit: Forgot to show you the original image I am working with ![]() -RMS Carpathia- ![]()
