Alright People! Im getting a job!

Ok, I want to get a job, get a little bit of cash, save it up, use some of the cash for Gas Money when I turn 16 in July (which will prolly be up to $3 a gallon by then) and more ram for my crappy ass computer. So, im sure most of you have gone through this process before. What, in your experience, are employers looking for when you put your application in and go through the interview process. Any advice is greatly appriciated.

Oh, yeah, incase anyone is wondering, our local Burger King is hiring. Will probably get an application for there as its a 5 minute drive from my house.

Be professional, courteous, and interested.

I suggest not citing too much extracurricular stuff for a job like Burger King. They see that as time you cant work, you know?

A suggestion: Food Service is pretty much the worst job going. Id look at retail (like a mall or store) or even a grocery store, depending on how much they pay in comparison to each other...

Re: Alright People! Im getting a job!

Trust me, I have NO extracurricular stuff. lol I spend most of the time at home.
2 Grocery stores in town. Walmart (only hires 18+) and a Ohio based one called Buehler's. Have to go down there and see if they are hiring.

Good luck with job hunting. Like what they all said, be yourself. Be honest, enthusiastic, but don't look desperate

Re: Alright People! Im getting a job!

My suggestion is find the WORST CRAPPIEST low down dirt back breaking labour job you can find.
Believe it or not its best. No burger king, Burger King is a sweet paradise job compared to what I am doing right now.

But you know what?
1-3 years from now when I tell an employer I know how to level an entire football field and then build a pool into it or onto it, they will be impressed more than someone saying "I know how to flip a hamburger".

Also if you walk around to some newer housing areas and find a construction site and wear a pair of boots(steel toed) with you and ask the foreman if he has any !!!! work for you to do. He can usually find something NOBODY wants to do.
