Wrestling or Parrying

I have a necro/mage. My guild is doing more more spawns and we are starting to get good at defending other guilds. MY mage does ok until we get raided. After reading different post I am thinking about putting wreslting or parrying on my mage. I wish I could put both but I can't unless I drop necro. Besides not being able to disarm would I still get them same perks if I use parrying instead of wrestling. I have parrying on a soul stone so it would be easlier to get the skills. My template is

105 necro
120 SS
120 Magery
120 Eval
120 Med
120 parrying or wreslting

If I go with parrying I will have a one hand mage weapon, shield , and I have the gear and rings to make 45 DCI. However if I go wreslting I am thinking about getting the staff of magi.

Re: Wrestling or Parrying

Pretty simple.. Wrestling is the only choice.. You need something that prevents you from getting hit..
Every mage that isnt a tamer should have anatomy/eval or wrestle.. then in second hand comes parry.. but for parry to be useful you need 75 dex.. correct me if thats wrong.. Its high.
So you will be hit ALOT even with 120 parry.

Wrestling will also give you disarm/stun styles.. which imo is just great. Nothing better than disarming some weak dexxer beating on me and watch him cry and run after

Just hope your template doesnt hold a staff but a spellbook...

It's 80 dex to get full benefit from parrying.

Re: Wrestling or Parrying

No resists? Hope you chug and use petals.

You could go parry if you have a mage weapon and use a crystaline or a 10+ magery ring w/ the magery totem = 15+ magery and most mage weapons have -20 magery plus.

I run a necro with a spell channeling mage weapon -22 magery w/ hit fireball, hit lower d, hit lower attack -1 casting, w/ the arcane shield for 15 defense and to negate the -1 casting.

If you cant run a mage weapon, use a staff and go resisting spells or even inscription if you are only spawning with the char. on a necro you use blood oath against archers and hard hitting maces and sometimes you want some one to hit you as silly as that sounds. Hope this helps

Re: Wrestling or Parrying

I changed my templete. I am taking necro and ss off. And I am going to run a pure mage my template for PvP. The only skill I am thinking about drop is inscprition and replace it with parrying. Also I am going to try to get as much DCI as I can on this template. At this time I am around 30.

120 Magery
120 Eval
120 Med
120 Wrestling
120 Resist
100 Inscription

I will be using a mage weapon.

Thanks for the input

Re: Wrestling or Parrying

parry/wrestle mages are the easiest templates to play.. as you can survive most dexxers... but they aren't field fighters.. more for just kicking it around the gates... you should keep a necro mage to defend spawns... or put poisoning on your character to keep fields up..
