What about axes?

Now I got a Axe of Heavens I seem to like it for pvp.. but no LJ in my template I quit UO 2-3yrs ago before the samruia and ninja stuff ..so my template was
110 focus
110 swords
110 healing
110 anatomy
110 Tactics
100 Chiv
70 Resist ((720)) Cap

Now that I found out focus is useless in a way... or not as useful as I thought I got so far

110 Swords
100 Resist
110 Tactics
110 Anatomy
110 Healing
100 Bush
80 Chiv

Like I said I do decent in PVP but mages always seem to get the best of me.. and always have.

But on this forum it seems that Macing or Fencing are the 2 main dexer pvp melee skills and im also confused if even i should have Bush..

Re: What about axes?

My axer PvP template is:

120 Swords
120 Parry
120 Bushido
120 Resist
100 Tactics
70 Chivalry
70 Meditation

This works very well for me. My primary is an ornate axe, secondaries are ex. axe, bone harvester, and a regular axe.

Re: What about axes?

If you can find a good one, the Battle Axe is an insanly good weapon. Bleed & Concussion with Hit Spell, 30SSI and some HLD is awesome.

Re: What about axes?

jfk, with that template do you use chivalry to heal? If so, do you have any FC/FCR? I suppose you could just use Confidence, but then what would you do about poison?

Re: What about axes?

Yes I use Chiv, Confidence and pots for healing and Chiv/pots for cures. I have some FC/FCR on my jewels. I had 2/4, but changed out the bracelet so I'm only 1/2 now. If I can find a brace similar to what I had that is 1/2 or 1/3 with more HCi than I originally had, I'll grab it. It surely helps, but the confidence does wonders, as does the high DCI and sporadic use of evasion to avoid getting hit in the first place.

Re: What about axes?

swords - 120
tact - 120
anat - 120
lumberjack - 100
healing - 90
chiv - 70
rest in med/focus
120 str - for highest damage output

Trap box, petals. If you can manage 3/6 with an ornate that has faster cast on it you can drop healing for resist. The key to this template is to max out DI on items and make sure damage adding skills are maxed.

Disarm than crushing. You will 2 shot mages with concencrate weapon on. I dont recommend bushido or parry on this temp because the term "axer template" implies that lumberjack will be used for the added bonus to damage. Plus axes are slow so lightning strike is mute, since you should be using crushing blows, concusion, mortal, bleed for damage.

Otherwise you are just another bushido dexer.

Re: What about axes?

I will continue to run this template because it is:

1. Successful

2. The LJ bonus isn't worth 100 skill points (to me).

3. The critical from LS is well worth having.

4. It is a "different" bush dexxer template with the axes, so a lot of folks have problems with it.

5. Mages don't cause me too many problems.

Like you said Phix, I disarm, consecrate, bleed, ls, ls, and if not dead a crushing usually finishes the job. Different strokes for different folks.

Also, as an aside, I keep resists because I "believe" (my opinion only) that enough players have complained about the trap box that sooner or later it will be nerfed, just like deathstrike, nerve strike etc. Put me in the category of players that finds it ridiculous that a box can be used (over and over) and tripped (while para'd) that eliminates the need for resist. I think resist is a skill that NEEDS to be put back in the game as a necessary skill. Again, my opinion. I like it when I go to hit a mage and he thinks he's gonna para me lol. That's usually the last spell he attempts to cast before he's either running or dead.

Furthermore, after re-reading your post, the OP simply said "what about axes", NOT "what about an axer template". Semantics, I know, but valid.

Re: What about axes?

Thing about trap boxes is that if there are 2 mages para spamming you, your trap box is basically worthless. I would love to see them remove that function (buff mages).
