Is this template/item set good for PVP? (never pvp'ed before)
Heres my (soon to complete - after I get power scrolls) skills with jewels:
110 Str 60 Int (aprox) 70 dex (aprox) 110 swrd 110 tact 110 ana 110 heal 100 mag res 70 chiv 90 bush I have a full set of tokuno arti armor mixed with a few other pieces that are fully "medable" (dont know if this matters for a warrior) and has following resistances: 70ph 55fire 50cold 51poison 50energy I also use a soul seeker, with a shield. My sword swings very fast due to helm and wepon speed bonuses. I use this character for PVM at the moment, but thinking about dipping a toe into PVP once I build up some Insurance cash. What do you guys think? Also, is it feasable to use my lesser hiryu in PVP and/or is that a taboo? |

Re: Is this template/item set good for PVP? (never pvp'ed before)
I would definately say get your dex way up there. If you are planning on using bandages you will be healing at around 10 seconds which will mean you die in about 4-6 seconds. If you plan on being 4/6 chiv healing than I dont see a problem with low dex, and you can prob get rid of anat/heal.
A soulseeker is nice for hunting, but it does horrible damage against people. You will never get a kill in unless they are the type to just stand there and not heal while getting whacked away for 10-15 damage a pop. Not trying to downgrade your template, as I have a very similar template for my swdsman, I substituted parry for resist tho. I go for damage over getting stunned/cursed. I will usually die before it would have made a difference anyways. There are people who use their Hiryus for dismounting others, but they dont stay alive for very long if you're fighting a group or a few peeps. I would say try to average out your resists, or get the rest above 60. At 55 fire, a corpse skin would drop you to, what, 30 fire? I try to keep mine quite abit over 70 so that when I do indeed get CSed it stays atleast above 50 something.

Re: Is this template/item set good for PVP? (never pvp'ed before)
Agreed with Bo, Soulseeker will do nothing but make you a target in Fel.
100 Parry will help more than 100 Mag Res. (I'd still bump that higher if possible) Any resist lower than 60 will be horribly bad and looking at your stats and reading you've got Tokuno Minors on, I'm assuming you have little more than 110 HP which is also a set back. At most I'd wear 2 Tokuno Minors (Arms of Tactical Excellence + Ancient Samurai Do) IF my other armor pieces can get me to atleast 65 resists across.

Re: Is this template/item set good for PVP? (never pvp'ed before)
In my opinion the only minors worth wearing, and these werent even considered a minor, since it was an anni gift, are the ember leggings/sam helm. I wouldnt use the minor drop arties, you can do better than the Sam do with just a simple Heart of the Lion upgrade. I would use the minors to help save up enough to trade in for a couple Majors. I would aquire a set of stormgrips first, then a carapiece. You can build your suit around the carapiece. Alot of people start with that and build around it. I build my suits around gauntlets/carapiece. Those arent cheap, so you gotta do what you gotta do of course. Maybe with the 9th anni coming up, use a couple pre-order gifts on the sam helm/ember leggings. There's nothing wrong with those pieces. Big bonus is they are blessed, so you save on insurance, which is never bad!

Re: Is this template/item set good for PVP? (never pvp'ed before)
You can drop tactics a lot lower if you get stormgrip gloves or have a wep w/ really good DI since there is a cap on DI in PvP. I agree that you should try to raise parry as high as possible since that is what will help you from damage from weps and, if you use evasion sammy skill, how often you will evade attacks and magic.

Re: Is this template/item set good for PVP? (never pvp'ed before)
The reason I prefer to keep my tactics at atleast 110 is because I use multiple weapons, and some have lower DI than others, plus I use gauntlets, so have 20% instead of 25%. Like when I use a soulseeker at a spawn, I like to have the DI still there cause the weapon doesnt have any.
As far as parry, I would reccomend atleast 110 also. Weapon skill I would try to go to 120 if you can find a scroll.. If you were to make say a nox/ninjitsu/chiv/weapon skill/maybe bushido char, then yah you could essentially get away without any tactics, since you will be inflicting damage elsewhere (death strike, DP, Holy light, nerve and lightning strike, plus specials). But with this template you will need alot of mana, or really high MR

Re: Is this template/item set good for PVP? (never pvp'ed before)
Thanks for the info. Looks like ill need to invest a little more time in getting a better set of armor.
All my armor is minor tokuno arti exept: gloves of pugulist gorget (gm, OK resists) helm (bone helm, mage armor, good energy res) I think i may just PvM for a while longer untill better stuff becomes available to me. My tamer is about to bond its first dragon and rune bettle, hoping i'll be able to make the money roll in with them, then buy my warrior some really nice armor. |

Re: Is this template/item set good for PVP? (never pvp'ed before)
Ur guy is remarkable similar to my main. He can PvM with the best of them, and do a little PvP. In fact I did fight night last night, and did pretty well. In any case, here's what I got.
100 healing 100 anatomy 106 bushido turned up 80 chiv 120 swords 95 resist Locked, but will turn down for more parry and bushido when i need to 110 parry turned up I got 250 stats, which with my items translates to 121 str, 140 dex, 40 int. Reason for 140 dex, is for 4 second heals, which is the fastest heal time. My resists aren't where i want them to be, but I do alright at 68/63/70/70/65. I'm still lookin for better sleeves ![]() Anywho, I usually work it with a prepatch talon bite, and do a crap load of dmg. The only thing bad about this template, is that it is extremely item dependent to be any good. In fact, any melee based pvp'er is extremely item dependent. So if you wanna be anywhere close to being competetive, you have to have A LOT of gold to buy what you need, or you gotta spend a lot of time searching for it on your own. I personally did a little bit of both, and it took a loooong time to get what i really wanted. Not trying to be discouraging, just letting you know ahead of time, it isn't easy, but the reward is great cause you'll have a great character that can PvM and PvP. |

Re: Is this template/item set good for PVP? (never pvp'ed before)
This is very true about item dependancy. I first started pvping with a necro/mage in factions, cause the gear was easier to obtain to be competiteve. Once I was able to afford and find the right gear, I moved my swdsman over to pvp. It took a long time to get my weapons cache to where I wanted it to be. I now have the exact properties I want on him. His weapons are complete, suit is complete with pretty much the exact mods I wanted. Now I am starting my next project and trying to go around finding macing stuff and a similar suit for the macer. I had the char open and never made a guy with nox or mace before. You know how hard it is to find a 1/3 brace with hci/dci and DI. It sucks!! hehe.

Re: Is this template/item set good for PVP? (never pvp'ed before)
I have that problem as well. Since this is my first month playing (although I used to play back when 2nd age came out) my Items are horribly underpowered. To tell you how bad, all the tokuno arties I found were much better than anything I have at the moment. I want to get some high luck for my tamer, hopefully use him to build cash and get good items at the same time. How high should luck be if I plan to get good items?
