I'm in the process of skillin up me archer. So I'm looking for suggestions on the best setup for an archer who will pvp & pvm.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Archery - 120
Ninjitsu - 115 Minimum
Anatomy - GM
Healing - 90
Magic Resist* - 115 minimum
Tactics - GM
Chiv - 60ish**
(based on 700 skill points)

*If you plan on using items (petals, trapped boxes, etc.) this is not needed, and I'd drop MR + Tactics and pick up Hiding/Stealth.
**Chiv is for the PvM aspect mostly, only real uses in PvP are Remove Curse and Divine Fury, which could be negated by items, as stated later in this thread. (I always forget exactly how some items ruin PvP)

change archery out with swords/macing/fencing/swinging a fishing pole/slapping someone with a fish. Anything but archery and you're good!

the temp bo listed looks alright.

could even switch out tactics for something else (if you wanted)...hiding, med...anything

but its a good temp.
i reccomend nothing but balanced bows...along w/ enhance pot atleast 75%
must carry lots of pots...including red ones, and yea a trapped box.
dont need chiv btw...
be a human w/ meddable suit on for +3 passive mr (if no med or focus on the temp.)

also 4./6 casting comes in handy to get in and out of dog form quickly...but w/ the pots and all you can get by w/o it.

also...140+dex is an absolute must when engaged in combat, for faster bandaid timer.

Drop tactics, raise Anat to 120. Get both damage and healing bost from it.

In PvP, how would you approach an attack in a defensive mode?

Don't rely on pots. Also, Silver, your asking completely the wrong kibnd of people if your intending on using that template on Siege.

Don't rely on pots, in fact archers that chug are poo. I say that because balanced bows use one of their weapon extras slots to be balanced. Healing sucks, I've decided that the only way to heal is confidence for archers, helped with a chiv heal when you get far enough away. I can survive a 3 person gank with just confidence, knowing when to hit a chiv heal comes with experience.

I currently run:
120 Archery
100 Hiding
85 Stealth
120 Ninja
110 Bushido
Chiv 70
GM Secret Ingredient

Magery?
Poison?
or Resist?

#1 - you cannot use confidence when in dog form
#2 - only sissies use stealthing in pvp. Hiding is one thing...but stealthing around you can't keep up w/ the fight.
#3 - every archer be it pvm OR pvp should have healing/anat, and 140 dex+ for four second bandaids...

Let me ask ya this, with no pots, and no healing...how do you plan on curing poison?
I could see if you said chiv...but good luck doing that while stealthing around, nevermind the fact you cant use chiv in dog form, lol.
One LP from a dexie and u are done for on that char.
Even IF you are good enough to get out of form, cast a cleanse by fire, (then divine fury,) then get back into form or smokebomb/hide to escape a gank...and that is a very huge IF, I doubt you have enough fc/fcr to do that effectively anyhow (my guess is u run w/o any, lol).

Facts are as follows:

1-Stealthing archers need healing/anat
2-stealth archers SHOULD use balanced bows
3-stealth archers SHOULD try to work in atleast SOME fc/fcr to get in and out of form quicker...
4-no real reason for any chiv if set up right.

Look at it this way, on unsupportable's template, you will stealth around, try to dismount/kill people. Once you miss, and have 2 or more guys casting an expl fs on you, there must be some way to escape. This means going into wolf form, and runing.
How do you plan to cure/heal self once you are in wolf form is what it pretty much comes down to.
and in fact you will (if smart) BE IN wolf form 99% of the time anyhow, and only come out for opportune shots...onehit kills, dismounts, etc...

Not only do you need a way to heal when in form, but you also need a way to replenish stamina.
Sure you could use kirin form, but even at 120 ninja, the occasional fizzle will get ya killed eventually.
This means Total Refresh pots. Even if you do have chiv, you cannot cast divine in wolf form, and again...good luck getting out of form, casting divine for stam so strangle dont kill u, and back into form to escape the gank.
It simply is not gonna happen, and you will find yourself seeing a grey screen more ofthen than not (as unsupportable does no-doubt).

Take it from a 9-year pvp vet...
Use balanced bows
Get 140+ dex and use anat heal.
Carry pots (yellow, orange, RED, and even blue/white to help w/ higher stats)
Wear enhance pot 75% or better (this will also increase buff amount from blue/white pots!)
allways carry a trapped box (even if you have resist!)
Smokebombs are not a bad idea too...nor are apples, orange petals,and anything else that will help to keep you alive.

Now unsupportable is right on one thing...I don't play siege, and don't know waht the pvp scene there is like.
Maybee people dont gank as much, and you don't need all this stuff to survive...but on a main shard, if you plan on doing alot of pvp vs groups...and you want to stay alive....then this is the way to run w/ a ninja archer.
