I am only been playing for about 7 months and love UO. I want to try PvP. I just start 3 days ago and all my skills are around 50. I have been working on the template but I need help...should I have resist?...tantics?...Or does this template even work in PvP.

I really don't know. I added it because I am just so use to using it with my PvM char. I could change that.

As soon as you can afford one get a stat scroll as high as you can. You need to get your strength and dex as high as you can. If you don't pick up resist. You will need to learn to use items. Enchanted apple to remove curse, greater cure potions to remove poisoning, trap boxes to counter paralyze. With no focus you will probably want to carry total refresh pots too.

I am going to guess that you should drop hiding. Pick up either magic resist or tactics. Tactics will give a damage increase and magic resist will reduce the effect of several spells and null some of them some of the time.

Hope this helps some. Also there are those who are better qualified to answer your questions on these forums. They will be in after a while.

I play a dexxer and a mage in PvP and I will tell you right now, without tactics you're just going to die. Tactics is a BIG factor in your damage output with a weapon. Here is a few template you could try and to piggy back off what Vepl said, either get resist or learn to use items REAL WELL. I personally always use Resist, it's easier and easy to raise to 120 as well.

Anyway, onward with the templates:

120 swords
120 parry
120 resist
100 anatomy
100 tactics
90 healing
70 chiv

or

120 archery
120 bushido
120 resist
100 tactics

Thier is an endless combination of stuff you can do with warriors, but you ALWAYS want Resist. Anyone who PvP's without resist, is silly. Sorry guys!

Tactics will give you an extra 5-8 damage per hit. 120 tactics will increase damage by 2 on top of the 5-8. I only run one template with tactics and I do fine. But for archers, tactics is a must have. Not sure why, don't think the coding is still quite right for archers, tactics seems to be the only way forward.

Vindicator's templates are both, "run of the mill." But they are good to learn with. The swords template won't have any damage output, due to no magical skill (Nujitsu/bushido)

Secondly, don't use bushido on an archer, nujitsu is the way to go for archers. But the archer template is better, a lot of fun to play, but use nujitsu. There are alot more options for archers with ninja, especially most peoples worst nightmare - wolf form.

Run with trapped box. You have 3 ways of healing, 2 ways on the run, which is what you'll be doing a lot as an archer. Bandaids, and confidence, then closewounds if really needed, but that is hardly ever.

Lightning strike and deathstrike are your friends, as well as animal form, remove curse, divine fury, consecrate weapon, etc. Kinda mana heavy template, but I have something similar and am able to have max dex, 100+ str, and over 70 mana with 8 MR, so it is possible.

If you can get a nice EP ring, and drink a greater str or greater agil, you can put even more stats into mana. Balanced bow coupled with an EP ring so you can drink pots is nasty.

Personally I like to have stealth + hiding on archers. But I play support characters.

I hate chivalry on my reds, I never use it except to Scared Journey (not Sacred!!!) I run chiv on one character, but mainly only to cure.

Vinny, was it you that I was fighting at moonglow last night???? You can't kill Mistress Pain, hehe, lol. But when I was about to log off, I realised what I'd done wrong with Forrester. I'd stoned parry off to get resists, and never actually done it. So I was running at 615 skill. Ooops. NVM, its only a bit of insurance gold.

GM Its A Secret!!!!! But its a GM only capped skill, no powerscrolls.

The first time I hit someone with the template, they are gonna cry. Death in 2 hits, guaranteed.
