I think instead of widening the original (I think that's the one you are talking about Bo) they just created a new one.

Didn't they remove the rails along the side of it? Therefore making it wider and targetable.

When they were doing everything they did to the original bridge, (re-drawing, different tiles, etc.) even with the rails gone, you couldn't step on the tiles closest to the water on the southern edge of the original bridge.
