I used to play UO 10 yrs ago... i recently quit EverQuest due to the fact the game sucks... the pvp is horrible.. and i play only to pvp...

now..

back in the UO days it was all about PvP.. and being a 7gm, im considering trying to come back to UO now.... should i stay away? which 7gm character is the BEST for 1v1 pvp (with the right skills of the player of course)

and is UO still a COOL pvp game... or did they ruin UO as well?

please help me out so i dont waste money on nothing.

Oh gosh things have changed. There was a whole new system implemented after the Age of Shadows expansion in 2003, where everything had its mods and stats changed. There are now 5 different types of resists (pysical, fire, cold, poison, energy) each is capped at 70. So no more just 1 resist to worry about having. Weapons are also widely spread out so you need to find that 1 perfect weapon for you, with stuff like mana leech, life leech, hit chance increase, defense chance increase, hit lower defense, swing speed increase. There was the addition of 3 new worlds, Illshinar which is kinda a wasteland where nobody can place a house and it is just for fighting creatures, tokuno is a japanese themed land, and Malas, which has Umbra(dark) and Luna(good) towns. Items have completely taken over how good you are at pvp. No more pvping in GM made armor, its all about how many mods or artifacts you can wear. But I still find it fun. You can get them fairly easy nowadays, and get suited up to go. 7xgm skills really dont cut it much anymore with the introduction of powerscrolls, so now you can take your skills to 120 if you get the right scroll. So you have to plan your 700-720 skills wisely, balancing them out to try to limit your weaknesses. I would say read up on stratics they have tons of guides for the new lands and new skills and you could get caught up pretty quick. Good luck in finding out the info you need. sounds like its not just the old UO game with lots of PVP and not much else...

Got to play the games when you are first introduced because time does change things... me I do not mind because I barely remember when it was new because my dad mostly played and I watched and played at the keyboard at times to watch out for his character when he went afk.. but when I came into game is the "nowday" stuff so I do not miss things like the veteran people here... I was "barely" apart of the past UO and the way I hear for the PvP stuff I wouldnt have liked it when it was a younger game. I am quite happy with Trammel so atleast I got a choice instead having to watch my back constantly.

I am sorry UO is no longer what you remember it to be... but like I said you got to play the game when you first start playing it because it will stay like that for quite sometime... then quite when they start doing changes you do not like.

There is still PvP though just go into Felucca but I do not know if it will be the same for you... Who knows maybe eventally they will have a couple of shards for people who loved the [Young] UO style ^_^

check out uo.com for the largest guild on your shard - join them and they will help you learn the ropes. Once you get geared up and have a feel for how items effect pvm/pvp, find a pvp guild and join theim.

dont just look for the biggest guild in UO. I know the biggest guild in UO. They only pop server up harrys and spawns, hide behind hundreds of Asian meatshields, and well, pretty much suck. They are Spawners Inc. There may be 1 guild bigger, but the alliance of SI is well over 1000+.

Plus he also said he doesnt care what shard, so I believe there is no shard at the moment for him/her. I think they are looking to join on whatever shard they find said guild.

I was just like u. came back after YEARS of not playing. Its so much to learn and understand. i'll be honest with u. i basically took up the game again to get my mind off things and it has worked. i have really learned alot from certain players (they seem to be nicer now, and help others, kinda weird actually).

I will tell u this though, The new UO sucks ass compared to the old. the one u and i are used to. the one where a house was 50 mil and gming tactics and a weapon skill was insane. pvp is all about armor and weapons. Not how high ur skills are. u can have 90 fencing and be at 120 with random crap on ur body. Its kinda stupid. Another thing that sucks is everything is "insured" now. Meaning u kill someone, there is no more loot. Ur loot is regs and pots. which really isn't worth picking up. Everything in the game is INSANELY expensive now. If u thought ur gm studded suit of $2,000 back in the day was expensive, wait till u see now, ur perfect suit is gonna be in the mils.

What i am trying to say is if there is a reason to play, then sure come back. its still fun. But if ur just lookin for something to do... spend ur money elsewhere. Its not worth it at all. the game is ruined compared to years ago.

The game is much better thaen it was years ago. More options and that godly awful lag is gone.

^ Ur kiddin right? They have ruined the pvp fun out of the game x10 which is what this dude is mainly interested in. How can a game be fun when skills that the game started on don't matter anymore? Its all about who can buy the most money off ebay and spend millions on their suits to be good. Thats just bullcrap

PvP has progressed way pass the days of a neanderthal and his viking sword. One has to develop his characters skills and his equipment as well. Just purchasing gold off ebay doesn't and wearing a suit worth millions doesn't give you the skill. Doesn't tell you what spell combos to cast, or weapons to switch to for special moves. The Ice Age of your days of PvP have long past you.

u must have not played back in the day. Cuz a person who picks the game off the shelf can now have as much skill as a person who has played the game for years just from jewels.

one does not have to develop ANY SKILLS anymore cuz they are given to u by pathetic armor and jewelry.

combos to cast? weapons to switch? do u pvp at all? No matter if its factions or guild wars, ITS GANKS. very rarely do u get a solo 1v1 unless its requested. its not how the game works, at least here on atlantic
