I've been on and off --- for like 8 years --- but was confused a ton with UO being item based now. SO i left, played WoW for awhile and though I dominated the pvp there I wanted to come back here since WoW is boring now. Long story short I need some help because frankly I am confused at what template I am aiming for, what items I should look for etc.

I miss the old days of going out with only a tall straw hat and killing everyone effortlessly >.<

Currently I was aiming for something like

decent template? Of course I will need help on what scrolls to put in what * blew soem cash so i am able to raise them all to 110 atm and I want to take soem skill from magic resist.. or whatever I can get away with in other areas * Got a 113% regeant reduced suit for 15k as well. SO meh.

ALSO! Help on raising magery? I am like at 75 and idk what spells to use other than chain lightning the floor in my house lol.

welcome back and welcome back and welcome to UOF. others can help you better with template and items you would need but in order to raise magery quickly get a -mage weapon and cast lower lvl spells to gain faster!

You are correct, buy have things changed. We have a list up in the common FAQ forums that details changes since T2A (with links to the publish notes).
You will also find charts, tables, discussions of new properties, their max range on items, and the caps each has (if there are any).

For training magery, your best bet is to find weapons / wands with two properties:
1) Spell channel (some have -1 fast cast, others do not.)
2) mage weapon (-20 to -29). -29 is best for training. This takes away from your skill, so you gain as if you were at the lower skill. In your case, equipping a -29 mage weapon would lower your skill to 46. This of course results in MUCH faster training. At that level, casting level 3 and 4 spells will net you the best results. (see our skills forum for more info on magery).

As to your template, I have become of the opinion that it is more the player than the template nowadays. From a brief look at skills, you may want to rethink the swords in your template. There are weapons now that can make up for it (Two staves and a daisho), but I am no expert.

That is similar to my template.

Char 1 is a Necro/Mage
110 Mage
110 Eval
110 Med
110 Resist
110 Necro
110 SS
The rest of the points I put into wrestling.

Char 2 is a Stealth/Nox/Mage
120 Mage
115 Eval
110 Med
100 Inscription
100 Hiding
75 Stealth
80 Poisoning

I really don't have much to add about training magery. Baldguy did a good job in explaining that. I would like to add that casting spells that do not require targeting are GREAT. Spells like magic reflection. Just keep casting over and over with no required targeting. If that makes sense.

If you're starting a new character, and even if you aren't, I highly recommend playing on Siege. It really is the best place to be for PvPers, PKers, and thieves, and imo the best place to be for anyone.
