I haven't thought much on it, or what I'll be offering, but I was just wondering if there's any interest from you guys on it?

Major bonus of hosting here, as opposed to a shared host elsewhere, is obviously the server is hardly used and has tons of resources to hand.

Initial questions I'd ask if I were considering hosting here...

Free or for a fee?
Custom domain name (my own www.whatever.com pointing to my hosting space here), or a subdomain (kitiara.uoforums.com)?
Storage space limit?
Max monthly bandwidth?
Server side features available? (language support - PHP, ASP, etc, database support - MySQL, Access, SQL server, etc)

I like the idea.

Whether or not I'd use it would depend on those factors, since I already have a bunch of hosting accounts for other purposes.

It'd be a fee based service.

It'd be a custom domain thing, or people could have a subdomain of UOForums.
Storage - Depends on the plan
Bandwith - Depends on the plan
Server features - All the standard features of a linux host, so PHP, MySQL, Perl, Frontpage support, CPanel.

I'm making sure we have a decent host with proper support before offering hosting

Looks reasonable to me. I get my hosting wholesale with my web dev business (<$4/mo), but those prices you listed are reasonable for retail. You might want to check the popular hosting sites for price comparison (godaddy, 1and1.com, etc). Those of course end up being dirt-cheap pricing. Godaddy currently starts at $4.29/mo retail for 10gig storage/300gig bandwidth. Through my company, I charge 6.95/mo for 10gig storage/300gig bandwidth, 9.95 for 150gig/1,500gig, and 19.95 for 300gig/3,000gig. (No, this isn't an attempt to hijack your potential customers - I only host for those I build web sites for!)

Pricing for each storage/bandwidth combo will likely be your biggest comparison point, as the features offered by basic Linux hosting are pretty much the same wherever you go.

Another pricing strategy (godaddy does this) - offer small discounts for people who pre-pay hosting. Like - one price for monthly billing, and maybe 20 cents a month cheaper for those who pay 12 months up front, etc etc. That's what hooked me on godaddy in the first place (though I do have hosting through a couple other hosts as well).

Will you offer domain names for sale as well? It's nice to be able to one-stop-shop with domains and hosting from the same provider.

Regarding prices and domains, I won't be offering hosting to tons of people, it'll only be to a few, just so I can cover the cost of the server.
I won't get involved in reselling domains.
