Yamandon's

Are they worth killing?
I remember Trajan and I died, along with our pets, last time we tried to kill that, heh
Stupid thing had a ranged poison attack, which worked even from screens away!

Re: Yamandon's

From the Hunter's Guide:

The Yamandon is a very big and very strong snake-like creature with horns. Despite its large size it can actually move pretty fast and if you are on foot you will have a hard time outrunning it.

Like most other snakes, the Yamandon is extremely poisonous and is able to inflict lethal poison when it hits you, as if that wasn't enough it also has a powerful area poison attack that will inflict lethal poison.

So.. since it carries a wallop with Lethal Poison.. orange petals are ineffective and 70 poison resist is going to help but still going to hurt.. bad. ;)

As for loot:

2000 - 2500 Gold. Magic Items, 6 Gems, 2 Eggs
Carved: 20 Hides
Special: Level 5 Treasure Map, Bonsai Seed

2000 gold ain't bad.. I suppose with a lucked out suit they might be worth farming if they spawned fast enough.

Re: Yamandon's

Yea, the one thing that's allways turned me off with regards to UO, at least, the "new" uo, is the loot.

I can't even begin to count the number of white wyrms, balrons or ancient wyrms i've killed and come away with nothing

Re: Yamandon's

Yup, yup. Until recently I never looted monsters other than the gold. Now, I hunt for the leather since I go through so much armor in PvP. Anybody who followed me around at one of my favorite hunting spots would become very, very rich due to my laziness. ;)

I can't afford a good luck suit, and most likely would lose it inside of minutes anyways.. so no point in even looking at the item properties while attempting to deal with the spawns at the same time.

Re: Yamandon's

I get great stuff from them.
I have a habit of dying a lot on my bard and well.. I am a little narcissistic on her so I tend to want Glorious Lady... or at least Illustrious...
Anyhow long story short I am often there provoking the rune beetles onto the yamadon then discording the yamadon (well he gets discorded eventually) for the fame and I tell you the loot is really really nice for me.
*shrug*

Re: Yamandon's

i would much rather kill scoops in 15 seconds and get 2k gold than take the time to kill that thing and risk lots of death.

How come?

On Sonoma and Siege I go solo to the swoops all the time... the only thing preventing me from killing one is the 2 dozen other people competing for the looting rights.

After thought... I wish they'd have put the entrance to Twisted Wield in Felucca rather than Ilsh. On Siege, if you can't compete with the farmers there at least you have an opportunity of killing the farmer and taking the loot anyways. ;)

Re: Yamandon's

It's the two dozen other people killing them...
I really dont see the point in fighting over loot when it's going to be divided up more than 2 ways.
Maybe I am just greedy but I rather get a 100 luck 18 lrc ring off of a yamadon than 130 gold and one or two swoop items that didn't get my luck credited.

Re: Yamandon's

If memory serves, Vampiric Embrace (or one of the other Necro spells) decreased either damage or chances to be poisoned. I remember people talking about summoning a Snake familiar and being able to control them as well...

All I personally remember about fighting them on my Pally was dying...reallllly fast....lots of times.
