I just returned to UO catskills from a 2 year break, got about 5 months of game time and am really digging all the new stuff there is to do, tried the peerless, the ish paragon monsters, quests, spawns, doom, was making some gold and arties and was finally starting to get back into a little pvp on my warrior(not good enuff to play a mage again yet).Then bammm AEF 5, so i have been away for about 4 weeks now in Iraq with at least 4 months to go and no chance of any game time and barely a chance to read the info on new stuff!! ie the new quest in the old dungeons.....was easy when i quit 2 years ago not to look back but this Air Force induced break is tuff because i wasn't the least bit bored of the game, was just getting back on my feet and making new enemies at spawns and the yew gates......blah i guess i'll stop whinning now...I'm just glad this is the one site that isn't blocked and has people that at least chat about the game and up date the people in withdraws like myself....

If you get a 2 GB thumb drive, you can install UO on there. Then take the same drive to the MWR location, plug in, and play for the max allotted time a day they allow you during your free time. While I was over there, we even had internet (haji-net) that provided internet to my room, but it was about dial up speed. But at least I was able to play.

nice, wish i would of known that 4 weeks ago sadly i doubt i would have much time to play between work and the gym, but it would have been nice to log on and see whats new....thanks for the info, i will look into it and maybe have my wife send me UO on a thumb drive..

You may also check with the MWR guys to make sure that they don't have the USB ports turned off. Some places do to make sure that some "genius" doesn't introduce classified info onto the internet.

well im pretty sure here at Balad the rec center doesnt even have internet, only the "internet caffe" has it and that place is a mad house....i wish we could get it in our pods but don't think haji-net is available here...thanks for the advice though....i think i will be stuck living my UO life for the next few months vicariously through my wife and uoforums...but i can't complain, i have it 100 x better than the men and women serving outside the fence everyday

I hear what you're saying man. I quit a while ago, about 8 mos after AOS, and when I was on AEF 4, I started reading forums, and got really excited about wanting to join when I got back home. So while I was there, I spent alot of time reading up and learning as much as I could about the game. When I came home, I hit it full speed. There are quite a few of us AF guys on this site, so we know what you're going through. I wont be going on AEF 4 this spring, cause I am getting out in a few weeks, after 9 1/2 yrs. Its time to move on..... But UOF will be here and will try to keep you updated, we have a great reporting team here that will bring you the most up to date news they can find...
