After reading the posts on this topic, I have a question for everyone...
Do you think it would benifit UO to make Moongates NON guarded zones? (And would be true for Fel and Tram)

No... I mean in pvp it'd make it a lot different, not in a bad way either!

But for the crafters, townies, noobies, and anyone NOT looking for pvp, the guard zones are a way for them to safely journey place to place w/o wakling out the gate - revealing themselves - and having a pk invised just waiting for them. It takes too long to navigate the gump (especially when nervous).

I do think that gates should remain gz, but only for those who havent flagged. I say make it like WoW is. Once you flag on someone, you are open for anyone to attack, so you dont have people going in, picking 1 target, then hugging the gate staying safe from the rest of their red friends. This would hopefully kill gate fighting, and bring it out to the dungeons and open fields WHERE IT BELONGS!

No. If they did this, no one would go to fel, ever. Red's would just camp every moongate all day long. No one goes to fel anymore other than to fight at yew, do champ spawns, or collect resources. However, there is some good news. I have used some of my connections and have heard that they will be bringing back penalties to being red. However, what those penalties will be is still in debate. I'm just glad they're finally addressing this.

I say make it so reds cant go into GZs anymore AT ALL. Make it so we can only use bucs for banking and what not.

I can see that being viable, but not necessary. It would only work if fel were actually populated. However, penalties to being a murderer is definitely a necessity. Killing another player is the worst thing you can do to a player in game, that doesn't involve a scam or hack, and to not be punished for it is stupid.

Gah, I went to the Yew gate the other day just to see what it's like there. Half the time people are just gabbing, then when enough of a red guild shows up, they start ganking people, then the blues come and kill the reds, then they sit and hide in houses, then come back out and talk. It's really pretty boring there, but that's just my opinion. What I don't get is why after I got mobbed by four reds, that when I summoned my WW and had it with my nightmare kill the guy that killed me, he got pissed and started yellin at me for being lame...

That's how yew gate operates. If you gank you're lame, but if they gank they're not. Funny how that works.

Sadly, gate fighters are often considered the lowest form of pvpers, if they can even be called that. I know sometimes its pretty much all there is to do, so we all find ourselves there from time to time, but its the guilds that do NOTHING BUT gate fight, and own 75% of the houses around said gate that are looked down upon....

I agree they should make it so you can only bank/buy pets/etc in Bucs (bucs fighting was FUN!)... but, the server lines need to go! A town that has so much lag/movement/fighting going on all the time, it should NOT be the one with the server lines running through it. Move the island or change the layout to ditch the server lines as they make pvp and defense a real challenge for most.

Otherwise, being freely attackable (even as a new rez), not being able to go to 4 other lands, not being able to go afk at a bank, not being able to buy from npcs, and having to either delete your char or kill counts for months, and not being able to use the virtues... that's a fair amount of punishment for a red.

I do think they should brnig back some sort of pk-hunter reward program which will bring more blues out of the shadows, more trammies to fel, and more incentives to old fashioned witch hunts. Oh yea and a good reworking to the fel dungeons (and old dungeons in general!). Make it more of a fight for a red.
