When Is Next Patch??
source from UO Kingdom Reborn 30th July
This last patch made KR unplayable for me. Everything is incredibly laggy. I can take a step about every half second....the targetting circle turns about every half second....and when I cast a spell it moves in a jerky motion(about every 1/2 second) toward the enemy. Of course most of the time I cast when the computer is in a momentary lag so most of the time the spell I thought I cast wasn't. Impossible to fight anything, impossible to move, when in a housing area the computer virtually shuts down and I can hardly move, maybe a step every few seconds. It is hard to imagine KR being this bad after a couple months of beta/live. Raced a friend in 2D...he ran thru city of Britain in about ten seconds, I gave up after a couple mins. WTF?????????????? The houses don't show or it takes forever for them to build. Gawd this is bad. By now I thought we would be fine tuning KR. It is embarrassing for me to see it in such a sad shape since I have encouraged everyone to try KR and submit bug reports. Are any of the paid employees embarrassed?? Have any heads rolled? The first should be the mgmt guy who said KR was live.....and who also got rid of the EM program. Jeez.....please clean up this mess. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Next patch is planned for Wednesday, and I *think* (and hope and pray) that the big optimization fix will go in - but I am not sure if the newly-introduced lag issue will be resolved. (We're still working on that one - it's nasty AND weird.) E. Jeremy Dalberg UO Community Coordinator EA Mythic ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks for the note. I can hardly wait until Wed. Was really looking forward to the 'big optimization' patch clearing up some of our problems. Now I'm just trying to survive the last patch. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ... Woo! Thanks Jeremy. One thing I have sent in as a Bug Report/Suggestion that should help with lag is to add in the house cache option that the Legacy client currently contains (Cache this many houses on hard disk: 999). That alone would help out a LOT if it can be added. Thanks again for putting up with our "Is it Patchurday yet?" proddings and giving an answer. (Yeah, all you anti-KR posters I'm sucking up... live with it ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jeremy, I just want to take a moment to thank you for your dedication in trying to keep up with all our frantic questions and griefs. We love you!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *Today* Sorry, guys, it's not going to be today - looks like our next target is Monday. We're trying to get some of the mess from the last patch cleaned up, and it's slowing us down. Hang in there! E. Jeremy Dalberg UO Community Coordinator EA Mythic ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jeremy: A question for you....if you have some of the fixes done, why are you all waiting until one big patch to give it to us? To me, if you know you have problems, you would want smaller patches more frequently, than one large patch that you have to sort through to figure out what went wrong? I would much rather patch twice a week, then get a patch every week or week and a half. I think it would make ya'lls jobs easier too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Changes have to be tested together: If you're trying to fix (a) and (b) it does you no good to patch (a) today and have to repatch it next week because it breaks (b). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ okay, but you can't tell me that the entire patch of a week ago caused the problems that many has been putting here. I am not the only one who sees every single patch, polishing items....come on, give me a break. So if the next patch has more than just the one issue that she was talking about then why not give us the other parts of the patch that didn't create the initial issue???? Seems to me I remember when we received patches timely, and now, we always have to wait for the one patch once a week or once ever week and a half. Besides, smaller patches would make it easier to identify what went wrong with the previous patch. With them wanting everyone using KR, you would think we would be getting patches much more quickly to the player base. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Re: When Is Next Patch??
Hmm, the former patch actually fixed my huge lag issue..

Re: When Is Next Patch??
I'm not having any lag problems in KR either, except MAYBE at luna bank or other intensely populated housing areas. Dungeons and spawns work fine, spawns are a trip in KR, so much more going on.
