Ok, so the devs have hinted that there's a movement afoot to put the Ultima back in Ultima Online. All you old players of the original Ultima series, what would you like to see restored or reintroduced into the game? I'm not talking old UO stuff, here, so this isn't a "give me a pre-ren shard " thread. I'm referring to the original Ultima series. What places, philosophies, concepts, or other things would you like to see implemented in UO?

Personally, I'd like to see the virtue system completed, and some virtues that are already in revamped so they make more sense.

Also, I miss the city of Ambrosia--the one where you had to get your ship sucked into a whirlpool in order to get there--as it seemed exotic.

And Sosaria always had a strong ruler ( I DO understand that Lord British does not belong to EA), but with him gone, there's a power vacuum. Who (other than Maddux) has the nerve, leadership ability, charisma, and power to assume the leadership of the realm? And would the players follow him/her? Or no? [Actually, I nominate Queen Mum, for queen!!]

I'd like to see them complete the arcs already done. I mean we never got character demise for Dawn, Minax, Keenoan ect. I know the lich was killed. And what about the Meer leaders in the story that corrupted Yew?

Wasn't a big fan of Ultima, till it went online. So just know that.

At least with the FOA we've markers and know they went to court and executed.

so as far as content
1) the virtues need to be fixed and completed
2) add the gargoyle virtues
3) glass weapons
4) Mystic armour / Mystic shield (as a set would be nice)
5) the magic axe(the one you threw and it came back to you!)
6) Smith the talking horse

I really miss Paws as well, the sorry excuse for a town needs to be refounded.

As for content, I'd love to see NPCs of various towns behave accordingly. As in their speech patterns should reflect where they are, in Britannian towns they could display the virtue related to that town. Anything to make towns feel different from each other, if possible the NPCs could even treat people differently - wearing flashy neon artifact gear gets you no service in the city of Humility, positive karma raises prices in Umbra, etc.

The above isn't particularly certain fiction, just bringing the whole Virtues and virtue cities thing to another level...

Ambrosia would be neat, and the gargoyle virtues are a great idea. I've also always loved blackrock.

If a new landmass is introduced, it needs to be Pagan. That place has loads of potential.

Something to not bring in: the ring of reagents found in Silver Seed.

All this was before I became hooked on UO..........


But I must say it all sounds really very exciting.

Hmmm... things from the old games I'd like to see brought into UO...

1) Glass swords... one hit kill most anything... then break.
2) Magic Axes (throw them and they return)
3) HMSCape plans... I believe these would make your ship run faster.
4) Shadowlords.
5) Being able to climb mountains.

Oh my ... I will be happy to make cookies to cover all shards at all times :grin:
but to lead one must be able to fight and welp ... a mongbat sees Mum as a snack ....

I would really like to see the renaissance feeling come to life again. Yes there should be bountys, there should be bells tolling, there should be a call to arms, there should be fight for the very survival of all against evil. There should be the feeling of its not what you have but what you do for the community.

The WE needs to come back to UO instead of the me ....

I sincerely hope they will not try to replace Lord British as the ruler/leader of Britannia. It would be a huge step in the opposite direction of restoring the feel and themes of Ultima lore. _Possibly_, it could be acceptable to pass that role on to Dupre, who is still in the UO world. That is the only alternative I think would work (and accept).

We could use Blackthorn, but he has already been corrupted and killed, and it's a shame too. Right now would be a perfect time to introduce elements of Ultima V into UO, with Blackthorn and the shadowlords.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Avatar return to Britannia, now all the Britannias.

An emphasis on adding monsters and dungeons WITHOUT the "boss" concept. The next land mass should be entirely underground, taking days if not weeks to explore on your own and not require an entire group of artifact equipped guildmates to even get into.

More work towards an involving, explorative world and less shock.

NEW PLAYABLE RACES and I do not mean dwarves, hobbits, predators & aliens, stormtroopers or decepticons. Elves were enough. I mean gargoyles, and not "look at my cleavage" female models or "look at my 6 foot wide shoulder" male models. Gargoyles, ophidians, et cetera.
