I play on Atlantic and I've had no problems with it.

I tested that out... Had never heard of how to find out the connection speed.. even though I have two computer techies in the family, and one runs a private shard... They like to keep their secrets... Anyway.. I have low end DSL and my 'ping' to LS was 52 night before last. That is good, right?

Re: what shard should i play?

Hey Snowy,

Id say that anything under 80ms of latency should feel pretty lag-free and is good for DSL. My cable conn gave me a 30-ish ping which is about as low as it goes for most folk...every once in a great while youll hear about pings in the high teens, but that is VERY uncommon and posibly a bunch of malarky.

There is a program called Visual Trace (or something like that) that will actually show you geographical locations of hops, who owns/operates the hop, and all kinds of info youd never want to know

Re: what shard should i play?

Thanks, Kettle, I probably have to take a pass on that trace program. I am too lazy to do it and my quota of 'useless trivia" (for the month at least) has been met! Good to know that I am running pretty good though. I don't get lag except for high lag areas.. Like Luna Bank... most of the time. It's a far cry from the pathetic mess I had with my dialup two years ago... two steps .. halt in midstride.. two steps... you know... 'slide show' UO.

52 is very respectable. You will only see a difference if you play mage v mage and they have a 20 or under ping. Casting times and spell delay's are cut much shorter then and you will suffer if you duel one of those guys.

Other than that...>I pvp / pk daily on a 100 ping connection with no problems...The only part of my game that hurts is my mage 5 dueling. Field wise...bring it.

Since I only PvM, that has no effect on me. I do notice good response in my spellcasting. I am rather gunshy from my early days of huge lag and lots of disconnects. Permanently scarred LOL.. and that is SCARRED not Scared I am not going to quibble over that call though.

In response to message just above me here.. (I think) Thanks for suggesting they move their dialogues to War Room. I was thinking it was a little off topic for in here.
