Before I Came To U.o.f I Considered U,.o Just A Great Game But As I Got To Know Each And Every One Of You A Little Better I Realized U.o Is So Much More It's A Place For Friends For Memories And For Great Debates And Discussions For Good Experiences And Bad Experiences.so I Ponder The Question What Does U.o Mean To You..and Thank You All For A Very Educated 7 Months I Look Forward To 7 More

Re: What Does U.o Mean To You

UO means $600/year and time suckage over nearly the last decade of my life!

Beyond that, though, over the years I've made new friends, spent time with existing friends, and enjoyed the company of many great people.

For me, UO is mostly just another facet of life to share other people's company. It exposes me to people from all over the country and the world that I likely wouldn't have met any other way. That's what I truly enjoy most about UO.

Re: What Does U.o Mean To You

What UO means to me, is a chance to escape the stress and anxiety of reality for awhile. UO gives a person the chance to forget about who they are, forget about work or whatever else is bothering them, in it's virtual world.

UO gives a person the chance to become that inner character that thrives in all of us. We can pretend for a moment, that we are this strong, invincible character in this make believe reality. It lets our minds go crazy and in some way, shape or form, convince ourselves that we ARE this fictional UO character in Britain for as long as our playing session runs.

UO also gives us the chance to meet other people all over the world that would normally never knew existed. Wonderful people, who you remain friends with for years!

Not to mention...the sheer fun of it all, it gives us a second chance to be a kid again!

Re: What Does U.o Mean To You

I have a busy life like all of you. Work, family (4 kids), house to keep up, etc, etc...
When I get home from work and get the kids to bed I love to sit down at my computer and click that UO icon. When I see the log in screen come up my body relaxes, my mind empties and I become grizz.
Unfortunately, at that point, the stresses and responsibilities of being grizz, set in. But at least I know I can turn grizz off whenever I want......That's the beauty of it. If UO starts getting tedious or boring I can simply log out.
Of course in life, this is not an option. So we look for ways to escape life, if even just for a moment. UO is one of those outlets for me. It's a wonderful place to relax, work, play, meet with friends, take out your frustration on ogre lords, dragons or whatever and just plain have fun.
My wife always aksks why I play......I think about this often. I play because I can. And, because I love it. I don't care what changes are made to the game or if things are perfectly balanced or if there aren't enough cold damage spells..no matter what they do to UO, it will still be what YOU make of it. This game can be anything you want it to be...That's the beauty......full control and glorious freedom.
There will always be something to complain about in UO, but look at it this way...............

Re: What Does U.o Mean To You

you said exaclty what I was going to say. UO is what you make of it. The freedom and possibilities were endless. When I use to RP we had at least 10 guilds fighting in skara over a book one player wrote that we pretended was "The Book of Zog, the first human" Just one little blue book some one wrote 10 pages of giberish in to have so much fun. The wars, the theivery, the diplomacy. Well we finally lost the book and couldnt remember what was in it to make another. So we found another item that was kind of unique and used that. I had more fun fighting the forces of evil to save the "white seed of the great lakes tree" than I ever did looting stuff from big monsters.
