![]() | What advice would you give me? So.. I haven't played UO in many years, and I figured i'd give it a whirl just for old time's sake. Thing is it doesn't even seem like the same game anymore.. necromancy, chivalry, ninjas.. powerscrolls..?? I don't know where to start. ![]() I want to PvP that's the only reason I really want to play again but just browsing these forums for awhile it's becoming clear PvP isn't anything like it used to be, and apparently it's all item-based now, no more PvP in nothing but sandals and a kilt? And i'm assuming Fel has gotten even deader over time as well? Is stat loss still around? Powerhour? I'll probably just be starting with a new account.. I remember my old one had a GM tamer and a few red chars but I wouldn't even know where to begin, a fresh start seems the best. Any advice for me? What's the most populated server? Most pvp-active? Is factions still around, active? Last edited by Jotun; 31st March 2008 at 11:14 PM. |

Why? because 4 year old accounts were given a bonus to the skill cap. you got +5 points to you skill cap up to 4 years. for a total 720 skills vs 700 for a brand new account. yes things are different in pvp, yes it is item based, but if you have enough gold in your bank you can insure all your items and you will not lose them when you die. you will be looted of your potions, bandages, regs, heck maybe not even then. also there are soulstones and soulstone fragments were you can transfer skills off a character and move it to another. So you do not have to lose skills that you have trained up on old characters , just stone them off, rebuild your character some other way, but if you want you can restore you old skills. is it deader than it used to be, yes. But UO is still the deepest game I have ever played. Yup its looks are not great, but hell it did not look that great 10 years ago. most populated server is still atlantic, if you are a european player then europa is the shard to play there are still active pvp groups on great lakes and lake superior. there is a new client out called Kingdom Reborn, or KR, personally I would not recommend it if your going to come back for pvp. It is just a new user interface (they made it more like the WoW interface, imo) it also gives you anew graphics to look at (to me they appear like the old third dawn graphics, if you remember them) just little bit bettter. just do a web search for kingdom reborn you will see some screen shots. if you used uoam (UO auto map) it only works with 2D, same goes for UOAssist if you used that. Supposably factions is getting a overhaul soon, but I will believe that when it actually gets into the game. Oh, by the way, Mythic Entertainment is now running UO, yes the makers of Dark Age of Camelot. They got bought out by EA, and were placed in charge of all EA online games. So they are now called EAMythic. they have been runing things for a little over a year now, nearing 2. Lets just say I am not that impressed and leave it at that. I have been p(l)aying this game for 10 years and I still love it. I can do what I want, where I want and with who I want. Still no other game has ever offered this to me. It is still why I p(l)ay. ![]() Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment |

![]() | Re: What advice would you give me? No other games offers what UO has. I don't like grinding and leveling. I just like to use skills and have fun. Regarding KR, I agree with Warsong, not good for PvP, but otherwise I'd use it, as it has some nice goodies. If you don't remember your old account informations, try to find your CD and phone the EA costumer support. With your account registration number you'll be able to get the account back. TOTALLY WORTH EVERY CENT! Welcome back among us! If you start on Europa, look for the HLP guild in haven, we'll help you getting back in! ![]() "If deathrobes were bank checks... I'd be filthy rich!"
