weapon skills over 100? (Question)

Why is it important to have weapon or any skills higher than 100? For a samurai what good does it do and which skills to raise? as I have a free 30 after locking chiv at 65.5

Imagine that the UO weapon skills give you Hit Chance...

the scale is from 0-120... so 120 for 100% max Hit Chance.

If you have 100... you only have 83% Hit chance.


Other weapon skills change your damage...

- Tactics and Anatomy... they are less relevant but still very important since you will multiply their base damage by:
- your weapon properties (slayer weapons deal damage x2)
- your slayer talisman (x2 again)
- Enemy of One (x1,5...)
To a max multiplier of x3 (usually translated by x300%)


A common choice is:
120 weapon skill for max hit chance %.
100 Tactics so you can do both of your weapon specials.
90 Anatomy for extra damage and Raise the Dead using your bandages.

Only need 90 tactics to use both of your weapons specials, but having 100 tactics allows you to do 100% of your weapons damage or something like that, maybe its 150% and then with 120 its 170%? not sure... Tactics does something like that though.

I am finding with my archer, with 45% hit chance increase and 101.1 archery, I still miss a lot. Even when using lightning strike. Its so annoying, I hope getting to 120 will change that.

Thanks guys, so get 120 swords and 120 bushido then? it's the only 2 I can afford so far.

Yep. Weapon skill, parry, and bushido are all worth taking to 120 in my opinion. Though not "as" important as for PvM, it can make the difference between walking away in color or black and white.

Is actually a mistake that they made skills work linear above 100 and not slowed it down, making 7 skills more viable than 6.

One of their design mistakes in my opinion.

It all depends on playstyle and template. Speaking in pvp terms, I run a 7X gm necro mage and honestly do quite well. Most mage pvp consists of small spells 90% of the time. The only skill I have at 120 is eval, for maximum spell damage. My template:

gm mage
gm med
120 eval
gm necro
gm spirit speak
gm resist
gm spellweaving

Does this mean that, if I have a slayer weapon (x2) and cast EoO (x1.5) I'm maxed out?? All other DI coming from weapon, GM tactics/anatomy, jewelry useless??

that 300% Damage increase does not include TACTICS ANATOMY OR LUMBER JACKING..
