Vista Ultimate 64-Bit and KR - Does not login
I have just installed and patched up KR under Vista Ultimate 64-bit and when i get to the login screen, i put in my username and password and hit login and nothing happens at all. It does not try and move on through the login process at all, it just leaves me at the KR login screen.
I have searched and searched on this issue but have not found any resolutions. Thanks! |

Re: Vista Ultimate 64-Bit and KR - Does not login
Thankgod in the greatest respect! I have exactly the same issue and they could not help me at all. KR is totally unplayable for me as I cannot logon. I went through all the EA Support and about 2 weeks in total of try this try that, and it ended up with not being able to do anything.
Please could you contact EA Support located here: http://support.ea.com/ its a pain to do, but if you alert them as well, they may help..... though that would be a first. My transcript of the help process is here, please copy and paste it into your issue, so that they dont take you through all the same issues and then tell you they cant fix it, and if you would be so kind please reply here telling me what happened. My log: Response (Scott) 08/02/2007 02:07 PM Hello Mic, Again, I'm sorry that we can't get this game working. It appears to be some sort of Network or firewall issue, but this is a unique case and we cannot pin point why it is happening on your system. The good news is that future expansions such as Stygian Abyss will be designed to work with both the 2D client and Kingdom Reborn. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything else I can help you with. Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts Customer 08/02/2007 12:09 PM Alright, Looks like I have to quit UO when everyone switches to KR and SA is released, Thanks for the help so far but I dont understand why the development team cant help, I have 5 accounts in this game, and that means I have to lose all of them Response (Scott) 08/02/2007 11:45 AM Hello Mic,Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. Unfortunately the development team has been unable to resolve your issue. We have not been able to identify what on your system is causing this to happen. I apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience that this causes you, and hope that you continue to enjoy the 2D client. I'm sorry that we were unable to get Kingdom Reborn working for you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further issues. Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts Customer 08/01/2007 04:28 PM Hi scott, aye that was one of the first things I did. I only have windows firewall on the computer, And its fully set to allow. Response (Scott) 08/01/2007 04:00 PM Hello Mic, Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. There is no update from development as of yet. I did have another thought myself though. Sometimes a firewall will still block content or actions even when disabled. Instead of disabling your fire walls/security software can you try adding the game to your exceptions list for any applicable security software and your Windows firewall? Let me know if this has any effect on the issue. Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts Customer 08/01/2007 09:20 AM Hi scott, any update yet? Response (Scott) 07/27/2007 03:14 PM Hello Mic Thank you for the update. I will chase up with development again, but I am not sure exactly when I will have a resolution for you. Again, please reply to this email in a few days to keep the ticket open. Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts Customer 07/27/2007 02:29 PM Hello, a patch was released yesterday which I have patched too - Just to make you aware it has not changed the situation at all. Still the same problem. Response (Scott) 07/25/2007 02:19 PM Hello Mic, Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. I'm currently in the process of chasing up the development team with this issue. Can you reply to this email in the next few days and I should have an update for you. I appreciate your patience with this issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions. Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts Customer 07/24/2007 01:22 PM Thanks for the help scott, Its a shame I cannot play the game. I dont really know what to do then, I own 5 accounts in UO does this mean I will eventually have to cancel them because I cant play KR? And passing this onto the development team? will they contact me and help me? Thanks in advance. Response (Scott) 07/24/2007 01:04 PM Hello Mic, Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. At this point I'm not sure what further to suggest. I'm going to send the information you provided to our development team. I can only suggest that you look over the trouble shooting steps that have been provided and make sure nothing has been missed. I apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience that this causes you. If there is anything else I can do for you please do not hesitate to contact me. Again, I'm sorry that we could not get this resolved. Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts Customer 07/23/2007 12:16 PM Hello scott, Just patched and tried, still exactly the same problem. Its getting very tedious now, all I want to do is play! hehe. Any more suggestions? Response (Scott) 07/23/2007 12:03 PM Hello Mic, Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. There is a new patch for the Kingdom Reborn available this afternoon. Could you please try running the game later today and let me know if the new patch has any effect on your issue. I look forward to hearing back from you. Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts Customer 07/20/2007 11:14 AM Hello Scott, Thanks for the continous help. I also recommend that you ensure you have closed any other non essential programs while starting the game one by one to see if we can isolate a possible conflict. ***Started up, closed every single item using task manager apart from the 5 windows components. Still no difference.*** I also recommend that you should completely uninstall Ultima Online from your machine, run a scan disk and disk defrag on your hard drive, and then reinstall the latest version. I would also re check your system for viruses and spy ware. ***I also did all this, Uinstalled Scanned for viruses, spyware. Ran scan disk, then disk defrag. No problems.*** Response (Scott) 07/20/2007 09:07 AM Hello Mic, Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. The UO Traces you sent look fine. For trouble shooting purposes could you try disabling your Internet security and running the game. The next step of the game should be to open a server list, so it seems that something on your system is preventing the game from opening this. I also recommend that you ensure you have closed any other non essential programs while starting the game one by one to see if we can isolate a possible conflict. I also recommend that you should completely uninstall Ultima Online from your machine, run a scan disk and disk defrag on your hard drive, and then reinstall the latest version. I would also re check your system for viruses and spy ware. Please let me know if any of these steps help the situation. Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts Customer 07/19/2007 01:19 PM Here you are Scott I did both - Hope this is of some use. Login.owo.com.txt compassion.owo.com.txt Response (Scott) 07/19/2007 01:10 PM Hello Mic, Thank you for getting back to me. Can you please run another UO Trace, but this time to directly to our Login servers. (I am including the instructions from the downloading of UOTrace in case you have already deleted it). Please do the following: 1) Click on ftp.ea.com/pub/origin/patches/uo/uotrace.exe and download the UOTrace program. 2) After installing this, open the program. If a pop up box appears telling you UO Server List not found, click 'No'. 3) Click the 'Options' menu at the top of the window, and select 'Advanced'. 4) Next, in the rectangular window with a drop down menu, type in login.owo.com. 5) Click the button labeled 'Trace Route', which is the fourth button from the left. 6) After the trace route has completed, click the 'Poll' button, which is two buttons to the right of the trace route button. This tells your computer to send data packets to the host server. 7) Let it send around 10 or so packets then select 'Stop Poll'. 8) Now, click 'Edit' then 'Copy'. 9) Open a blank text file, such as Microsoft's Notepad, and select 'Edit' then 'Paste'. 10) Attach the file to this incident so we can see any connectivity issues that may be present. After this please repeat the steps but this time compassion.owo.com I look forward to hearing back from you, Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts 07/18/2007 12:33 PM 07/18/2007 12:06 PM Customer 07/18/2007 10:59 AM Hello scott thanks for the help so far. I did what you asked. Disabled Emulation completly. I also updated my sound card drivers, Restarted computer and tried - exactly the same problem. Because I install my games on my second hard drive, I uninstalled everything then reinstalled KR on the main drive where windows vista is installed. This did not make a difference either unfortunatly. Any other ideas? Regards, Mic. Response (Scott) 07/18/2007 09:02 AM Hello vwrmic, Thank you for getting back to me. There may be an issue with your virtual drive/emulation software. EA game's protection software can conflict with this can this can prevent our games from running. For trouble shooting purposes can you please try disabling the software and running the game? Please follow the instructions on the FAQ below for guidance: http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg...p?p_faqid=7854 I also recommend that you look for updated sound card drivers here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further issues or questions. Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts Customer 07/17/2007 01:17 PM Right, I have attached the files for you, because I run a 64 bit system, I have DXDiag64 and DXDiag32, the first one I sent you was 64, this one is 32. Wether it makes a difference or not is im not sure. In regards to more system specs heres a list: Shuttle SN95G5 v2 Radeon X800 XT PE, 2GB Corsair Ram 74GB 10,000 RPM as master drive (Vista Installation) 500GB 7400, RPM secondy drive (Games/Misc) Sony DVDRW Drive Daemon Tools Virtual Drive, for my backups. In regards to this problem with my system, Im not having any problems what so ever, No Windows errors or anything. I would contact Microsoft but from previous issues with them in regards to games they say compatability with their operating system is of the uptmost importance but this lies with the game developer to meet the requirements of windows - Along those lines. Not very helpful basicly. Hope this is of some help. It would be for them to fix an issue which I am not getting apart from with KR. Thanks in advance. Response (Scott) 07/17/2007 01:03 PM Hello vwrmic, Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. I'm sorry that you are having problems with The Kingdom Reborn. The Dxdiag you sent may indicate some problems on your system. It does not show your drives (which it normally should) and there is also this message: "Crashed in system information (stage 4)" I recommend that you contact Microsoft support for help with this issue. Could you also try sending me some more information about your system. Please follow the FAQ below and send me the results of the 'easyinfo' application http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg...?p_faqid=10318 I look forward hearing back from you, Regards, Scott Customer Support Electronic Arts Customer 07/17/2007 02:01 AM I have made a simple video with the program FRAPS with what is happening, It is an AVI file in ZIP format. It has been virus checked. As you can see if you can open the video, its exactly how I described and cannot get past the login screen. Customer 07/17/2007 01:25 AM Hello, thankyou for the reply so far. I have attached the file. Its strange because I can log in with 2D just fine which I have just done. But KR is still not working at all Response (Pogo Anderson) 07/17/2007 01:19 AM Hello, Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Technical Support. There is a tool we use with one of our other online games called UOTrace, which allows you to do this quite easily. Please do the following: 1) Click on ftp.ea.com/pub/origin/patches/uo/uotrace.exe, and download the UOTrace program. 2) After installing this, open the program. If a pop up box appears telling you UO Server List not found, click 'No'. 3) Click the 'Options' menu at the top of the window, and select 'Advanced'. 4) Next, in the rectangular window with a drop down menu, type in the server name for your favorite shard by typing the .owo.com with no spaces please (Example: atlantic.owo.com). If you get a DNS lookup failed error, please make sure that you typed the name correctly. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reply to this email. Thank you, EA Tech Anderson Electronic Arts Online Support Customer 07/16/2007 04:44 PM I am also asking for help in this thread on the UO.Stratics forums located here: http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/u...ch=&PHPSESSID= Its not a firewall issue which I have tried. As you can see in that thread. Customer 07/16/2007 04:30 PM Hello, A bit of a unique problem here. But I am unable to play at all. When I load up KR I get to the login screen, and I type my username and password in. I press enter or I press login, and the login buttons white text turns grey and nothing happens. The forward arrow key doesnt do anything when pressed either. You can see the button being pressed in and out and the text going from white to grey. I have left it after pressing it once for as long as I can but this leads onto problem number 2 as well. This was not because of todays patch I was hoping todays patch would fix it, but unfortunatly it did not. To be sure, I just redownloaded KR uninstalled my old copy and reinstalled a fresh copy to a different directory. And patched upto the new patch. I also removed my profile from My documents. And its still the same. So Ultima Online Kingdom Reborn is unplayable at all because I cant get past the login screen. I will add the 2D works perfectly and I do not have any problems logging in at all. Problem number 2? Well, Running KR heats my computer up very fast, And im serious when I say its making my computer go over 100 degrees! I get an error from ATI saying my graphics card is above an unsafe temprature and it is downclocking it. But I should exit the program to stop further damage. This is the only game I get this one - I dont seem to have a problem with other intensive games, for instance Fear, Half Life 2, Battlefield 2, Stalker. These games work fine and no heating issues. So something with KR is making my computer over heat. If I play the game I assume EA will not be held responsible for cooking my computer and potentially causing a fire? I hope these issues can be resolved on this game that was confirmed as no longer BETA 2 patches ago. As I cannot play the game at all. Thankyou In Advance. Mic. Re: Vista Ultimate 64-Bit and KR - Does not login
I hope you guys get this resolved and be able to log in KR. I don't have any tips since I don't use Vista. I don't want to derail the post, but something caught my eye in Ghazghkull's post.

Re: Vista Ultimate 64-Bit and KR - Does not login
Response from Jeremy was
There are aspects of SA that will be available in 2D (like skills, items, etc) but the ability to play a gargoyle and the new lands will all be kr-only I showed her this thread and what the customer service rep had said, and she replied Thanks! I’ll clear that up. |

Ghazghkull you probably have already done this but thought I would ask anyway. Have you checked for updated video card drivers?
