Re: video card or ram

Hard to say, as both may play a part in the games overall running.

Check your Virtual Ram. Manually manage it, and set it to 1024 and 1024.

Is it an onboard vid or add-on card?

I think min req for the add-on is going to be 32Megs, but more is better.

Re: video card or ram

Those "onboard" cards are fine, but they usually share the system RAM. So change the virtual memory to 1536 and 1536, to see if that helps.

Always do this while "not" in game, and you'll probably have to reboot for effects to work.

Also, if you can get into your BIOS, then try to see if you can increase the amount of RAM your Vid can use.

Re: video card or ram

Have a machine running XP Media with 512 of ram and a GeFroce with 256 MB of ram. KR runs fine on it. Have another one with Win 2000 and 1.5 gig of ram. Since the patch last night can't load KR at all. I'm going to check and see what video card that one has. For some reason I think it is an ATI with 128 MB of ram .

Re: video card or ram

You can check the Easy Info that came with UO. It checks your system for you. I think on my laptop, I passed most of them but there were a couple that they weren't sure of.

Re: video card or ram

There are some other "in-game" type tweaks that "might" be effective, but not trying the KR client, can't vouch for them.

Check your "uo.cfg" file and the send line is about a swap or cache file. Set that number to equal your ram or double it, perhaps. Worth a shot.

Re: video card or ram

Id hold off until they sort out the issues out with crashing, KR is taking up the full system load for some reason.
