![]() | Veteran thinking of returning Hi all. I played UO off and on for the first 7 years on the Great Lakes server mainly in the Guild of Friends. I'll list my character below in case anyone is still playing that might remember me: Eric Fireforge - Mage/Smith Tika Dragonsbane - Tamer/Mage Nemesis Enforcer - PvP (Mace Fighter) Artemis Entreei (sp??) - Bard I'm not sure if my characters will still be there or not, but it would sure make things easier if they were. A couple of questions I have if people wouldn't mind answering: How are the server populations compared to 2-3 years ago (less/more)? Are there still room for houses on most servers? I've owned a tower, large cusomizables, and at one point way back when about 5 small houses on Moonglow Isle. Thats one thing about this game that I have never been able to find in another. Players with a home town. I always saw the same faces in Moonglow and made quite a few friends there. Is there still a community feel to the game? How is the economy on servers for a new starting player (in case all of my characters are gone)? Are reagents still 3 gold each at a vendor, etc.? |

Housing is really shard dependant. I really don't know about Great Lakes. Hopefully someone from there can answer that for you. I would say the server population is still similar to what it was two years ago. Most faction vendors still sell regs around the 3 gp price. Things may be more expensive now. Usually though you can find peeps willing to help a new/returning player. Look forward to your return to UO. If you find yourself on LA or LS let me know. Will try to help you out the best I can. We came from many shards to start a great community(we even have our own town!). If you would like to come check us out you'd definitly be welcome and there is a large amount of housing on Lake Austin. We would definitly help you get reestablished as well. Hope to see you in game or on the boards soon! -Cabe Bedlam ![]() Welcome Strangers, the paths are treacherous today... ![]() Signature courtsey of atlas607 |

![]() | Re: Veteran thinking of returning Since both of the replies are from Lake Austin players I think that is where I'll head. The Guild of Friends webpage from Great Lakes is no longer up and running. Now it's just to find out about character transfers, or if it's cheaper to just start over. Spent a few $$$ buying D&D Online, Vanguard, and Eve Online after a year or 2 of playing WoW and haven't logged into any of them in a few weeks now. Everytime I bring up gaming to one of my old friends we both start talking about UO and how we used to have more fun playing it than all these new games. |

Eric unless your old characters are really scrolled and suited out. I would just start new ones. There are plenty of players to help you get a "good" start up outfit and a little insurance money to help. Besides it's a lot of fun being new all over again ![]() Vepl |

![]() | Re: Veteran thinking of returning I figured it would cost a bit to transfer characters. It will probably be my wife, myself, and another couple starting new characters on Lake Austin tonight. We'll probably use our old accounts (from early/mid 2000). Is it like I remember where you can buy the latest expansion and you automatically get all the previous ones? My characters are far from geared out. They do have a lot of GM skills taming, animal lore, carpentry, smithing, mining, bowyer, alchemy, inscription, tailoring etc., but not worth $100-$200 to transfer them all. My wife would kill me. She's already looking at me funny because I just built a new PC (this weekend) with dual 640MB video cards in it and I'm going back to playing UO which ran fine on my PC 3 upgrades ago. Hopefully there is enough room for a small house on LA - Moonglow. My friend and I will be tree chopping, deer skinning, cotton pickin madmen while the wives (both love crafting) use up all our materials ![]() Last edited by Eric Fireforge; 26th February 2007 at 02:26 PM.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Veteran thinking of returning I would highly recommend if you are going to transfer one character that you do a tradesman rather then a warrior. Gming carp and tinkering is such a pain! Also you should be able to find soul stone fragments to bring over skills from your characters, so you would only have to transfer one character who has all the rest of your characters skills. If you need any help with aquiring soul stone fragments, I'm sure there is someone on the forums that could help you with it. Hope this info is useful! ![]() Welcome Strangers, the paths are treacherous today... ![]() Signature courtsey of atlas607 |

![]() | Re: Veteran thinking of returning Very useful information. I really doubt I'll bring any character over, but if I do it will be the crafter just to gear up our new characters. |
