They NOW have a spawn point that they return to. The first spawn you could drag them as far as you wanted.. at least on Cats. So that's most likely how one ended up in Vesper.

I know they can be dismounted but has anyone tried disarming them?

I just tried that about half an hour ago.

It gave the disarmed message, but it didn't get disarmed. Or it rearmed very very quickly. In either case, it turned out badly for me.

Last night was good for me. Killed some Vanguards and was able to tame 7 steeds. Gave 4 away to friends. :p

Can't wait to see what else is going to happen. It was a bit expensive though. The spawns can be a pain in the butt, especially if there are few people around to help.

here's my input from my account with the vanguards

- greater dragons work very well on the vanguards.
- mystic weps dont seem to have special damage against them as rumored
- vanguards parry melee attacks very often
- consecrate weapon is useful
- can be discorded
- drop both shield and sword in corpse (very dark), very often if not always? I killed 6 and they all dropped these

correct me if I'm wrong

I wasn't able to really kill the Vanguards alone. Then again, I don't have my spellweaving up to par, and Okame (My GD) isn't fully trained. When she is, she will a power house. Well, she already is.

They drop both the sword and shield? I think you're getting very lucky. I could only get the sword or the shield, not both. Sometimes I would get neither.

Has anyone verified if the robes can drop?

Personally i do A LOT of damage with it, so best try and check it

Trick doesn't show in KR. What is up with that? KR has been getting crapped on in this event line...

The robes do exist (Cloak of Shadows) but they're just not dropping/lootable. Every Vanguard is wearing one.

Cast on dock & follow commands. Under normal circumstances I prefer EVs but this is one of the few exceptions IMO.

I'm not sure how, but last night there was a guy playing a fencer/swords samurai with necro and he was soloing the vanguards REALLY easily. I just helped out a little and we were killing them in around 4-5 mins.

Not sure his build or items, didn't bother checking, and he was in wraith form, but his damage must have been pretty wild.
