UO's current GM situation

Someone put up a link to the credits page of UO, it lists all the staff working on UO at an expansions, launch.

I noticed the GM staff levels seem to fluctuate abit, so here's a quick count of the number of gm's working on/for UO...

Source - http://town.uo.com/credits.html

Gamemasters listed on the credits of each expansion

Third dawn - 32 (24 normal gm's, 8 leads/seniors)

Renaissance - 32 (26 normal gm's, 2 leads, 4 seniors)

LBR - 20 (15 normal gm's, 5 senior gm's, 3 lead gm's)

AOS - 26 (13 normal gm's, 10 senior/lead gm's, 3 team leads)

Samurai Empire - 24 (18 normal gm's, 6 "team leads")

Mondains - 28 - (21 normal gm's, 7 team leads)

9th annivesary - 13 (7 normal gm's, 3 senior gm's, 2 assistant leads, 1 team lead)

UOKR - 10 (0 normal gm's, 5 senior gm's, 5 lead game masters)

Does anyone else find it worrying we've gone from 21 normal gm's at Mondains legacy launch, to ZERO gm's at UOKR's launch?

Assuming these figures are 100% accurate of course.

Re: UO's current GM situation

Whats even more scarier... Is wonder how many of them are shared between games?

Re: UO's current GM situation

What amazes me is the fact that so many good players (and ones who no longer "need" anything in game) would be more than willing to step up and join a seer corp or counselor corp or even be a gm provided they could do it from their home. Many of them would expect no compensation for this service but do it out of a love for the game and yet I believe EA has yet to even think along these lines. I know of several folks who have set up new player guilds and meeting places simply to help new players out only out of love. Maybe its time for EA to allow hand picked players to help in better ways!

Thats a great idea but open to abuse. Ive been a GM at other places and its not very rewarding..specially if you dont get paid.

Re: UO's current GM situation

They can't open up the volunteer program again because people who were ....volunteers, sued EA for not being paid
So they closed the program.

Always the few that ruin it for the many

EAJapan doesn't seem to have that problem, though, they have IGN's, Seers etc.

Re: UO's current GM situation

We're talking about UO everything is open to abuse! However it can be done even with just one lead gm monitoring the pc gm's and the complaint system already in place!

Re: UO's current GM situation

I personally think they need to hire Limited GM's, who can work from home
Where every action and word spoken, is logged and analyzed
Like the EM program, they'd have limited abilities, but could deal with the low end issues like people being stuck, stuff missing in houses etc, but for a lower pay than normal gm's.
