To me a gamer is a gamer no matter how leet your system is or if you play a pc or console, if you enjoy to plays games, even tabletop, then your a gamer. But as Dip said its all in how you look at. I enjoy a wide varity of games but I dont want to invest alot of time into something when I would much rather invest it in my motorcycle, or family, or just hanging out with my kids. I have better things to do then to sit and stare at a screen all day be it tv or pc, like taking a trip on my bike games are an escape and stress relief for me, I still have my intellvision and old nes as well as one of each system ever made, I even have a old puter to play age of empires and other older games on, I'm a gamer, just not a rich on heh

I'm speaking specifically of PC gamers.... if UO came out for PSP or XBox or PS or Wii then this conversation would make sense to include those, but I thought it was pretty obvious that we were talking about gaming on a computer...

Yes, I do separate console gamers from PC gamers. That's not to say you can't be both, but most gamers I know have a strong inclination for one over the other.

Dip, Keeper - I'm not saying either of you aren't gamers!! I'm saying, if your primary use of your computer isn't to play all of the most recent games, I (in my own use of the terminology) would not call you an "average *PC* gamer" - I'd call you a casual PC gamer. If you are more apt to keep up with the console or handheld games, then you're probably more like the "average console gamer." I didn't realize we were talking consoles and handhelds here.

You guys act like I'm calling you names or trying to demean your pride in game playing... sheesh! This isn't personal.... I was just explaining the terminology as I happen to use it. Feel free to use your own. I wasn't going for "right" or "wrong" here - there is no right or wrong! It's just easier to have a conversation when everybody knows what everyone else means by the various terms, but it doesn't work when you make it personal.

Sorry if it came off that way Kit, I (will speak for myself here) was just stating that it is of opinion what an "Average Gamer" (be it PC, Console, or all) is and that I would include myself in that catagory. Since I would label myself an "Average Gamer" I was stating what I have and do that would catagorize myself as such, because by your definition I wouldn't be.

To change the subject a bit, will my laptop still be able to run uokr? Processer and Ram are fine, its the 16 MB Video Card thats gonna worry me?

Dip - so you look at gaming more broadly and I look at it more specifically. That makes sense.

I just didn't want this to turn into some personal attack thing, because I totally didn't mean anything personal at all towards anyone! It just seemed like the way my posts were being interpreted, first I'm ripping on people "less fortunate" than me, then I'm demeaning people for not being high enough in my gaming standards book... it's so not like that!
