Just curious, why don't you allow links to free shards? And it's not a free shard btw, it's an idea to make one, the shard itself probably won't be public for a year.

I can understand corporate suck up sites like stratics to not allow links to shards
that break EA policy, but you too? Well to be honest I never heard of this site til I found it in an extensive google search but still this doesn't have the appearance of an EA suck up site I was wrong I guess. Does EA ever do anything for you? Do they give you anything free? That would be the only logical motivation I can see to obeying the rules of a company that takes the best series of games ever made and goes against the direction of it's lead director and destroys the future of the series forever.

The logical motivation is that we follow the rules which we agreed to in order to play EA_UO ....

Please take the time out to read UO Forums ROC as well as the rules that govern our playing of EA_UO.

Sorry Raz, I think the idea here is to stick to the game which EA made.

You can be upset that it's not going in the direction of the original creator. You can want to play/create a different version of the game. You can't make other people do or feel the way you do.

Best thing to do is stick to places that welcome it, find out what a site is about before assuming anything (ROC) and post where appropriate, i.e. Player Run Shard Forums.

We don't allow links to free shards or anything deemed illegal by EA's terms of service, because we don't feel comfortable allowing things which are at best, a grey area as far as the law goes
And yes, we support EA, even if we do or don't agree with their decisions with regards to Ultima Online

As for giving anything for free, they don't HAVE to give something for free
But with that said, yes they do, on occasion
They give us items for our contests/events, which is a nice bonus of being on their good side
But we don't remain on their good side intentionally to get free items, we do so because we support them and the game they created and continue to maintain.

There are other forums/websites which i'm sure allow such links or advertisment, so feel free to use them.
