UO still pretty popular / played (been away 2+ years)?

Howdy. I just wondered if UO was still pretty popular as well played? I started playing UO back in 98 on the Great Lakes server. I haven't logged into it in probably 2 years or a little more now. I was going through my game CD's and ran across the install disks, and figured I might fire it up and give it a try.

I probably won't make it into UO until the weekend, so I figured I'd write a quick post to see how the server population was, and if there were still a lot of people that played it. I'll probably see if my characters still exist on Great Lakes, and if not, start a new character.

I've played quite a few MMO's since my UO days, and even though some of them come close, they haven't been able to match the great character creation and gameplay that UO had.

i think its well worth fir'ing up and re-joining for sure!! I live on Europa and that is still ok, it has its times when you see that tumble weed blow past but it can be busy too and europa auction is always a good day for people to be logged on...... as far as i know most of the other servers are doing ok, there are a few not so popular and a few that are popular....

Welcome back!

The most populous North American shards are Atlantic, Lake Superior and Great Lakes. For west coast Pac still retains a sizeable population. Of course all Asian shards are well populated, and as stated by Archaon, Europa for Europe. If you like a large lively population, stay away from newer shards such as Origin, Legends, and Lake Austin. The rest fall somewhere in between.

I'll probably stick to Great Lakes actually. See if any of the old crew or guilds are still active.

Have they ever removed anyones characters from inactive accounts yet? I'm just wondering what the chances are of my original characters still being there.
