Uo on Cingular help?

I live way in the woods where we don't have broad band or cable. For the nine years I've played Uo, its been on a dial up. And not even a 56K dial up. Its been at 24.6 on a good day, due to a rural carrier system phone line.

I got the new Cingular 8125 for my husband in the hopes of at least getting a little faster. I got the 8125 yesterday at around 7:00 p.m. Got it home played with it a little bit. Went to blue tooth it to my laptop, and lo and behold, my laptop needs a blue tooth adapter (which they failed to tell me). Ok, no problem, because I have the usb cable. I hook it up to the usb and got an active sync. Couldn't get it to act as a modem for my laptop. Spent hours upon hours on the phone with Cingular tech support, Toshiba Tech Support, and finally HTC tech support. With no avail Finally, with the help of the user manual, my husband and I got it to connect on the laptop.

I can connect at 230.4k now. YAY!!! but, surfing the internet is wonderful compared to what I had. Load up Uo. Guess what. SLower than my dial up.
Ran trace route through uotrace and have very poor connection. I only traced atlantic because that is the shard we play on.

Is anyone familiar with this setup? Can anyone help me as to why UO drags when connected through my phone?

Also, my laptop has wireless, anyone know of a way to set up a wireless connection between the Cingular 8125 and my laptop?

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you do a trace route to the server you play on and post it on here?

I've not had any experience with singular connections, but i'd imagine it's the same principle as dialup/broadband
I'm not sure, but doesn't a cingular connection go upto a satellite and back down again?

Ok
It really depends, when you ran the trace route, what was the ping to the destination server?
If it's anything above 200ish, you're going to lag...

It was more like 800ish. On my dial up its not that high. What I can't understand is if it acts like a broadband, why is it so much slower than my dial up?

Sounds to me like it's abit like satellite, that's the kinda ping i'd expect from a satellite type connection

Download speeds would be high, but the ping time would be high.
