UO:KR Chat and other Questions

I am desperately trying to get used to the KR client. Although there are several things I really do like about it (the over all look, the partical effects, the chat system - somewhat), I have a few things I can't figure out and am hoping someone here can shed some light on.

Chat:
  • I have several different chat windows set up (I do like the option of having multiple chats). I have no problem with that, my main problem concerning chat is the custom chat channel. I know how to join/create a custom chat but can only create it. When I try to join an existing chat that is password protected, I always get an "Invalid password". If the channel doesn't exist so I can /create it with the password, there is no problem and anyone in 2d can join. I am just unable to join an existing one.
Friends:
  • I can add someone to my Friends list by either clicking on them or adding them by number but if the number associated with them is too large, it cuts off the last number and won't let me send a message to them or even view their online status. When I try to send a tell, it will do the /tell command but will substite a 0 for the last number for that character. I have even tried typing in the full number with no luck if it is too large. I have a second account that I can talk to fine because of the number associated with it. Tells, online status, etc all work fine depending on the size of the number.
  • Deleting invalid friends doesn't work. I can delete a friend with a number that is once again, under a certain number but anything over, I get the message that the character doesn't exist.
Skill:
  • I'll admit it, I am lazy and have jewelry for a few skills. Ok, besides being lazy, this allows me to alot the points to another skill. Is there any way to view the total skill including jewelry? I use UOA so normally, in 2D, I have it up listing all my pertinent skills. No luck with KR.
UI Delay:
  • My biggest aggrivation on the UI itself is the delay when pressing a key. If I tap the key, it usually won't register. I have to actually hold the key down for a second or two. May not seem like a big deal but it is sure causing me a headache. Besides that, adding an Alt to a key and it is that much more difficult for it to register. Half the time I get the function assigned to the unmodified key. F1 = Recall, AltF1= Gate. Hit the AltF1 too fast and I goes through the Recall process. I have to actually hold the keys down.
  • Ctrl-Shift stops movement. I use the Ctrl-Shift combo when running through dungeons looking for items to steal (Doom for example). With 2d, I can hit my buttons on the run and if nothing is up, keep running. With KR, it actually stops me. Ok, I can handle this but WHY does it require a full stop?
Emote/Say:
  • This is more of a "can it be done yet" but is there any way to use the standard (by todays standard that is) %T for the target in an emote? So I can say something like "/say Hail %T" and it will in fact say "Hail Lord Altril"? Any way to add other things to emotes besides just text?
Ok, that was rather lengthy. Was maingly going to post my question on the Chat but figured shoot, while I am here and you all are so helpful, maybe you can shed some light on my other issues.

Love the UOForums by the way. Just discovered them, what with Stratics down and have spent a lot of time this weekend reading them. Nice spot.

Thank you for the quick response and the link. I had run across most of the info elsewhere but it was a nice compilation and basic run down. It did answer my question on the Skills and the real/modified. Not sure how I missed the massive button at the bottom of the skills gump.

Unfortunately, I can't see an answer to the other problems I am having.

It does tell how to add and remove a friend but unfortunately, that still doesn't work on the majority of the people I try add. Well, it does add them but after adding them with the correct number so it has their name, it then modifies the number for some reason and won't show their online status or allow me to even tell them. Of course, now that the number is different, I can no longer delete them, even if I log in on the 2d client on another computer/account and see they are on. Very odd.


I also don't see any info on the error I get when I try to connect to a custom chat channel. Always getting the Incorrect Password on KR but able to connect in 2d is rather annoying. Being able to create a channel with a password in KR and then being able to join in 2d makes me think the actuall function works, just something odd with how the /join or the format of the command is. I have tried putting the name/password in quotes, brackets, etc. and just can't get it to work. It is annoying tell someone in guild chat to log out so they can pass it along to everyone else in chat so I can then recreate the same channel with. Luckily, I am the only one trying to use KR. Not sure how two people can create the same chat since we wouldn't be able to join the others.

Well, everything I have posted here sounds pretty darn negative so thought I would post a few things I really like about KR.

First, I love the option when crafting to Make Max and Make Number. I have a couple friends who have started growing/crossing plants. I am the alchemist so guess who gets to make the kegs of potions? In 2k, I would sit there and click Make Next over and over and over again. Now, when I need to make a keg of Greater Strength, I get the regs, the mortar and pestle and the keg and with three clicks, I am in the process of making a full keg. I can even talk in chat without interrupting anything. LOVE IT!

I really do like the over all look of the game. Yea, I have to agree with most in that I really do prefer the old UI and still open all my containers in the old style Freeform but with the new addition of skinning the UI (hopefully just the first step), the UI isn't as undesireable as it first was. Also, yea, there are some issues with the graphics but they are really starting to grow on me. In fact, I am sitting here now, looking at my house in KR and I really do like the look.

Love the modal chat. In 2d, I always wanted to have two differnt chant boxes. Now I have the option.

Thanks for the feedback Jaxtron,and I am glad some of your questions wee answered.

I have to be honest I havent looked into the 'add and remove a friend' or 'connect to a custom chat channel.',but will ask around,and get some one to try it out with me in game.If that doesnt throw up any answers to help you,I will see if anyone else has come across these problems,or knows anything about them.

Meanwhile I am sure some one else will post a solution, who has used these options.
