![]() | UO High-Res - what could have been? I started a new graphics challenge on Stratics if anyone wants to check it out. Summarized: I wanted to see what the client could have looked like in double size. This is what I came up with: An image of my tamer, Voi Mussi Mussi upon his lovely nightmare. ![]() And here is an animated gif to show the "before and after" of polishing the resized image: ![]() If you'd like to see more samples of what our current graphics would have looked like at high resolution, submit a screenie on the Stratics thread and maybe I'll make it. I won't be regarding anything submitted here because I don't want to split the challenge in two places. I hope the UO Forum admins understand. |

![]() | Re: UO High-Res - what could have been? I agree the 2D client has been loved for years, I dont understand why it wasn't improved but with maybe the nice 3d spell effects. |

![]() | Re: UO High-Res - what could have been? Im not sure what it is with KR but, it looks like theyve had diffrent graphic artists on the job, stuff like moongates and stuff look cool, but then you have stuff like wooden and metal chests that look as if theyve been painted onto the screen ![]() |

![]() | Re: UO High-Res - what could have been? I keep thinking to myself, it'll be alright its only Beta. But how on earth will they improve the graphics, there not going to redraw them all again, maybe they could render them crisper on the screen, hum. |

I am actually getting embarassed and feeling like a bad person for not liking the result of all their work and expenditure. But I really truly like the old 2D 90% better than KR that I see. And I really was up for liking it when I came into this. There are some very good art changes... and some issues that with time and the inclination, can be fixed. Whether they have the inclination is another subject. :/ I certainly hope so. I avoided 3D because 2D was so much better... I did try to be fair and logged in 3D several times... but never could like it... Now I feel like I am being forced to play 3D, and I just don't like that feeling. If it was/would be/ as good looking and things like those silly container interiors were put back to decoratable/placable interiors, I would be more comfortable and happier. I really hate those container interiors and my poor elven blacksmith is uglier than sin now... she used to be sorta pretty... ![]() ~ "It's definitely a Bubble Bath Day.". ~ Dove Promise ~ |

I think you put it best with "but then you have stuff like wooden and metal chests that look as if theyve been painted onto the screen" as I couldn't think of a better way to put how some things look. It kind of reminds me of the old cartoons, where you have the background and you can tell if something would be used/changed/moved because it didn't blend in with the background; the chests and a few items look like the background. ![]() ![]() Thanks again Maddux!
