Re: Is UO dying?

It has its ups and downs as all online games do but the one thing that no other game seems to be able to pull off is the unity of players playing in a community setting. Guess it depends on what a person is trying to acheive in the game.

Myself, I am crafter never *fought a single time in all the years I have played and yet I truly do enjoy playing UO everyday just by helping others acheive their goals.

*except I do let a mongbat now and then feel my boomstick in order to restock vendors :cheesy:

Amen to that. My blacksmith is not a fighter and would get his head handed to him if he got into a scrap.

My assassin on the other hand....*smiles innocently*

Sure. But looking at statistical charts, a lot people have quit UO (coming down from #1 or #2 online game) and now it pulls an average customer base at best. But it's still chugging along at least.

The game actually stopped being fun years ago. It's the people that actually make it fun now so with out them uo would die. As long as I can log in and find those people I know and love like my own family I will stay.

That's what I miss. I actually miss being in what was one of the most hated guilds on the shard. I miss my first guild, which was small but we were a family. It's about the people to me.

Re: Is UO dying?

Me misses the days when all banks hads peoples at them, whens where ever yous wents youd meet somones :-(

The player base hasses droppeds so muchs its plains the games is going down. Buts me dont think it will ever die. Its a shames theys never mades the nexts proper ultima online games. Was lookins good fer a long times. It could haves been the saving moment of UO withs updated graphics and stuff. The lack of UO in shops doesnt help. Majors lack of exposure.

Re: Is UO dying?

I've been playing for 8yrs... this question comes up at least monthly.. especially when changes are happening... Nope don't think its going anywhere anytime soon...I've learned just to adjust to the changes whether I like it or not, the changes definitely keep things interesting if nothing else...lol

Re: Is UO dying?

When I first began posting on the old myuo boards at uo.com people were stating that uo was dying. Now it is four or five years later and UO is still going strong. People who say it's on it's way out now are no different from those that said the same thing back then.

Just my two cents.

Re: Is UO dying?

I wouldn't say it's dying, but i'd say it's at a low point going by the subscription numbers that are posted on that mmorpg chart site.

It was upto 250k active accounts at one time, then it dropped pretty fast to 130k? (can't remember the exact number)

That figure hasn't been updated since last year, so who knows

But I do know alot of large houses are collapsing on various shards
I've seen at least 2 18x18's go down and that was after a few minutes of running around
A friend has personally looted 2 fallen large idocs and even managed to find a space for a castle on their shard (Origin)

Re: Is UO dying?

I don't think it's dying, but it is severely diminished compared to older days, at least on Napa Valley. This is evident by the noticably smaller numbers of people I see or even all the open housing space I come across in my journeys.
