I know there are some obviously. There has to be. Anyway my character name is "menarepigs" on Lake Superior(say hey if you see me). Someone came up to me and asked about the name. I said its a joke. Well this person said they were offended by it. I told him "I am a guy". He said he was and then said he would report it. I told him "DO IT". Anyway I still have the name as anyone can tell its a joke but just curious if anyone else think this name is really offensive?

Not really, though I'm not a fan of those types of names. I'd be really hard pressed to call it offensive. If he did report you, a GM would already have you in jail explaining that you need to change it.
I doubt there's anything to worry about.

Kimmy that is your opinion men are pigs is a true statement. There are some of us that aren't and take offense to the statement that "all men are pigs".

OK that's what I thought. I didn't take it seriously. Most people have come up to me and loved it. Just curious if I may have been off base as it has been a while since I came back to UO.

well if this name is to be deemed acceptable, then technically this name should be as well: womenarebitches. Same use of words, just replace men with women, and pigs with bitches. Basically you're replacing one gender with another and another animal noun with a different animal noun. Now look at that and ask yourself if you find it offensive. Now if you do, you can now see why some men may find "menarepigs" offensive.

I personally don't care, cause that is an opinion statement, not a fact, which legally you're allowed to have under the first amendment. Now if you were trying to promote it as fact, then you have a problem, atleast in the legal sense, heh.

for one. Pigs is omg a pig B!tch is a curse word and a very very dirogatory and offencive term. (Even If we are ^.^ I know I am)

That is not the same thing and you know it.

It was just an example of replacing one name of an animal with another. If you feel it better you can use "womenarerats" or "womenaredogs". In either case though, it's demeaning, and the "menarepigs" use can be seen that way as well.

edit: btw, just in case this is misinterpretted, i'm just replying to this thread to give examples of why I think someone would perceive the menarepigs name offensive. Like I said previously, I don't really care, nor am I offended by that name, but I'm just trying to give everyone my view as to why I think some people might find this name offensive, through examples.
