Re: Ultima Onlines Future?

Decent items are found discarded on the ground in towns all the time... by decent I mean stuff that a new-ish player can use just fine. Lots of folks can supply decent starting gear for free, basic LRC suits for newbie mages, etc etc.

I've also never bought anything in game for RL cash, the only "out-of-game" resource I've used is uo-auction for the occasional purchase or sale of something I can't find otherwise. Had no problem there.

I still remember how when I started out I was perfectly happy fighting brigands with my uber 50-ish swords skill. And thought I'm hot stuff when I got to *gasp* 70 or so weapon skill. Sure, I was rubbish, but I didn't feel that way and I was having fun. No need to compare myself to others and feel playing isn't worth it.

So I kinda agree with thoughts above, the game isn't impossible for a newbie at all - a lot of new players just have an impatient greedy attitude towards it and when they don't get it all within a week they cry and stop playing. UO doesn't need people like that.

Re: Ultima Onlines Future?

UO is what you make of it. If you want it to be boring and dull it will be boring and dull. New players "almost always" have to interact with other players to survive, to learn, before they go out on their own.

Re: Ultima Onlines Future?

Even though UO has quite a few very nice items to choose from, UO is not about the items. UO is about diversity and comradery. There is always something to do. The character I use most is a pure mage, and the only artifact she uses is a boomstick. The rest is regular loot she has put together. I have 6 characters total, and not one of them has a major artifact. But they're still fun to play. All of them.

Just go out... have fun... and try not to get into the artifact trap that some get caught up in. You'll find it much more enjoyable.

"Fun Game But Dying Out And Getting Boring!"

Maybe expand the horizon and meet some of the fun folks in this game, after 78 months there is still NEVER a dull moment for me!!

Re: Ultima Onlines Future? Fun Game But Dying Out And Getting Boring!

I would say that when the game is getting boring and un-fun for you, its time for a break!

Maybe a different game or just a little down time in general, but keeping playing (and paying) when youre not having fun is more than a bit silly...

Re: Ultima Onlines Future?

I once heard it said: "there are no boring things... only boring people" I take that to mean if a person truly wants to enjoy something, they will... if they don't, nothing you can do to/with/for them will make them happy. Just jump in and test the waters.. I've played 5 years and, while there are times I don't enjoy as much as others, I still find reasons to hop on and play.
