I vote yes on the separate forum too.

Can't think of what other race I'd like to play.

I like the new graphics. The monsters are looking good. The characters on the other hand need a little improvment. I see too much UO 3D still in them.

Re: Ultima Online: Kingdom Reborn Officially Announced

Wasn't there a seperate forum for when ML came out? I say yes to a dedicated forum, this way all the Beta testers can post and show screenies like they did in the ML one..

Re: Ultima Online: Kingdom Reborn Officially Announced

You know I was thinking I am not sure weather this is "why" EA is doing this or not but...

You know that saying, "You buy a computer, bring it home, and is already outdated?"

Well maybe that is not quite the saying because I am not good at remembering quotes word for word. But anyway based on that quote I was thinking about UO.

I mean you got update drives, update versions for your user interface like me... I use Windows XP now days.

Maybe EA is finding that UO is starting to get harder and harder to keep up with the 2D graphics and such. I know I got games I would LOVE to play but you need an older computer to play them =*(

Maybe EA has been trying to keep UO upgraded in the 2D mode as much as they could but now it is just to much of a hassle and it trying to think of away to make it easier on them and also keep the game going...

I am defintally not a computer person so I do not know if that is "why" or maybe they just choosed too. But so weird for ALL these years having the same style of art and such with all these new fancy games coming out in graphics, years of this and NOW they are making a 3D client. You figure the EA team would want to keep that UO traditional Artwork still rolling but after thinking this, maybe 2D is just starting to get to hard to maintain with all the new computers out and such and you got to upgrade pretty much or least eventally =/ No matter how much one loves thier computer. I know I miss all of my olders one...

If this is the case, I accept the 3D client even more than I did before. I really am going to miss UO 2D traditional artwork. You can tell they sunk in SO much time for everything they have put into the game. Alot of people just find it as a pile of disoragnized pixles and need to be defined through updating into 3D graphics... but it is very beautiful in my eyes. Wherever I go and see just, it is just amazing. When 2007 comes around and when the new expansion comes out... I know for sure I am going to cry because I am going to miss... logging in to that simple login screen, selecting my shard, my character, and entering Britannia as 2D.

I will no longer beable to roam about seeing that art...

I mean WoW made thiers all fancy but... it isn't the same. The WoW login screen makes me sad for the fact I think that is what the UO login screen is going to kind of look like... fancy. Not that it is bad but like I said not that traditional UO

I know I am going to like the 3D client but I can not help but love UO for what it is now. But I am ready for it, I took all the screenshots possible now and ready to move further into UO future. Things indeed change and I am sure many at EA has alot for us players, many surprises, and story line continuations and new start ups. I am glad they are putting alot of thought and care into a game we all love so very much.

Don't forget, as far as I know, the 2d version will be there for those that choose NOT to upgrade. In any case it's still quite awhile before release and a lot more information to be coming our way.

and our beloved UO will NOT become a WoW clone ?

CatHat UO Character/Environments Artist

Just to clairfy --- Yes, that is our first teaser/announcment webpage. A more formal site will be announced when they're ready and have it full of new content.

If i were to stick around UO for any reason, it would be for the top shelf graphics they are putting out.

If your expecting WoW/EQ type graphics, well that is not what's coming down the pike.

I dont care if its WoW/EQ graphics it still looks good, realy good, and they are remakeing the game that defined MMOs and all those others just followed in its path, i think it is sad how the MMO that made the MMO genra popular would go down hill dont you? to stop that from happening they are putting in tons of work to make it that more ppl subscibe than ever. compared to what im playing now on 2d (who plays 3d right now anyhow?)It will be sufficent for me at least.

PS:dont you just love sayin MMO?

"(who plays 3d right now anyhow?)"

I do ... and rarely do I switch to 2D.
_____

I think that the new graphics look like a combination of the two engines which at this point appears to be a good balance.

However, keep in mind that the above statement is MMO (my miniscule opinion) :cheesy:
