Re: Is UO dying?

Answered the poll a bit ago...

UO is not dying, its peoples interest in it. People get frustrated when they can't have things their way, so they leave. People get angry when change comes, so they leave. People want fluff not content or choice's, so they leave.

Life changes & evolves (and sometimes de-evolves), so shall Ultima Online.

The wife and I have discussed life beyone UO *SHUDDERS*. We just cant imagine it. It is such a part of our life its just unimaginable that it would stop. I dont think its dying. But I am realistic that one day it will stop but I am sure its got a couple of years at least.... I hope

No, as for all other MMO's I quote HillBillyBiker (from a different forum) "We'll crush them. They suck."

Re: Is UO dying?

I've started playing again after a prolonged absence and much to my chagrin, so has my fiance after a little bit of her asking questions and the like.

I don't see it as dying as as commented earlier, it has quite the diehard following and with the number of shards and facets, there is still a fair amount of room for people.

My fiancee and I both play on Atlantic and Haven is crawling with players both new and old.

Re: Is UO dying?

my input no UO isnt dying ...

now from watching my hubby for the last 6/7 years playing UO with me..... well he will see a new game and have to put all his energy in it and then he gets bored or frustrated ........example is he just came back from WoW ......ok one of our close friends that we call our son told him to try it ........he was stuck on it for quite a few months

well he is back on UO .....now lvling and for the pvp it was close to impossible for him to meet his goals in that type of game .....

i think its like a kid sees a new toy gets all excited then a week later you find it under the bed ignored and the kid is playing with their fav old toy once again ......the one everyone thinks should be thrown out but its still in good shape just needs a good cleaning and a few minor fixes

ok i said my 2 gold pieces i go off quietly to my little corner of my little world

Re: Is UO dying?

Someone mentioned something about a soulstone fragment scandal and a site called Tradespot.

What's the story on that?

In a nut shell they were selling upgrade codes, but taking the bonus items that the same code gave you. In other words. Use the code to get the Soul Stone token, then sell the code to someone to upgrade there account to ML I think it was. In any case a MAJOR hit to the question of ethics.
They actually banned me from the site for taking this position, although I never bashed them, I just stated I agreed that it was an unethical move on some forum.

My personal opinion is don't deal there. Use Cybernickel, you'll not find a more honest broker.
IMHO, of course.

Re: Is UO dying?

I agree with Silverfoot.
I was banned from there because I play Siege. And they (Tradespot) have said on Stratics that most of the Siege population is scammers. Which is VERY untrue. Its just that we tend to speak our mind more often and we did speak up and say that the way they handled the soulstone scandal was horrendous.

I would never deal with Tradespot or its brokers again.
Cybernickel is an honest person. I only reccommend him these days.

Re: Is UO dying?

Actually it was before ML.
Tradespot sold SE upgrade codes for gp.
Several months later EA announced a promotion wherein you used your SE upgrade code in game to obtain a soulstone fragment. People duly fed their upgrade code into the ingame promotion box through the paper doll and found the fragments had already been claimed.
Tradespot maintained that they'd only sold you the right to use the code to upgrade your account. They retained ownership of the code and the right to use it for any other purpose.

The general feeling of the purchasers was that they had bought the code and Tradespot should not still have records of the codes, never mind be using them to obtain the fragments.

Tradespot wanted to have the cake and eat it, basically.
