How do you get the rare lanterns? Are those loot or are they treats?

They are loot from the red undead spawn in the graveyards.

There are also statues falling from the Shadow things, when they die sometimes, very rarely a statue of a ghoul will hit the ground that's black or orange and has a the name of "Happy Halloween 2006" or something like that.

They weren't too hard to kill when I did them last time, last weekend. I didn't see anything in the update if they've been beefed up.

Thats an understatement ,lol.I would say they have been MASSIVELY upgraded.

Earlier today i was soloing them easy peasy .

Then I logged in with the guild tonight and off we went to see what was 'new' for Fright night ,hehe

slightly would be an understatement! I was hitting a skeletol knight for 100 hp each hit. It took a few (maybe 8-10) hits to kill him.

Snugglebug's a noob!

Kill any red monster at the graveyard spawns (tram or fel) and lanterns and statues may be on them. Also, if there are bodies already on the ground...check them. I've gotten more lanterns and statues off *other people's* kills than my own. Granted... there's a slim time frame between the body turning to open looting rights and it disappearing. Loot with the swiftness!

Chocobos!! Holy crap!
