That's not the point of my reply, I didn't said I didn't wanted back on, nor that everyone has virtue armor Just I point out it won't bring more players like you stated

I don't care for items myself, I have already more than I use so it doesn't change anything for me.
I just don't want them to put more neon into the game, the last major pigments were better, though they should have had 50 uses, not 10.

Re: Treasures of Tokuno

One big problem with the pigments (the original ones) was that they were neon-wahey.
I think they should try to slowly fade out all neon items to give back the classic medieval feeling to UO.

The shadowdancer black, rum red, courage purple etc. were perfectly alright with me and I would love to either see those brought back or perhaps have them spawn ingredients on high end monsters that can be used to make pigments (through the use of alchemy).

Alchemy + Ingredients = Pigments
I like that!

Even better, we should be able to make paint bombs!
Hit a character with them (Fel only ofcourse, wouldn't want the trammies to cry) and they instantly turn into that colour. Armour, clothing, skin, the works!

Hah, that will teach those neon bastards!
(I shouldn't be talking though, I have a few full armour sets coloured dryad green, just to take the piss out of neon)

Re: Treasures of Tokuno

I would like to see TofT back. But turn down the drop rate. Or add something else. I just started play UO when the TofT were going on so I wasn't to partake 15 day free trail. I am just one of those unlucky players I guess. When the alacrity scrolls were droppping I took my tamer and played everyday for 1 month anywhere from 7 to 12 hours a day to get the scrolls, but I only needed up with 4. My rlf was with me everytime and he ended up with like 20. When the 10th advi. items dropped again I was in the dungons kills like crazy casting weither and dropping like 4 to 6 demons on every cast. The same amount of time was spent here and I only received 3 items. The drops in doom. I went for a month playing like 4 to 6 hours a day and nothing to show it. The most I get from any peerless boss is taint.

Not crying a river or anything like that. I wish they would keep drops going but lower the drop rate.

Great points. I think that would be cool to for the monster to drop items and have alchemist make the pigments.

I like the idea too, it would surely make me use alchemy a bit more ;p

But yet again, this won't bring more players, just fix something that should have existed for years.

How do you know for sure, that turning some of these old systems back on will not bring people back to the game.

Thats all I read about, that people are bored because there "nothing" to do.

Well turning on these old systems (alacrity scrolls, ToT, some of the overland invasions) would give people more to do. If you stimulate the players enough you generate buzz. You get more people interested in logging in.

Why do you think people are constantly asking about the mad mage event that EAMythic keeps hinting about? Again what could it hurt to give people choices of things to do in all the facets?

As far as the neon colors, who cares bring them all back. Are they ugly? Yes to some people. And other people just like to be outrageous. Never really bothered me, one way or the other. I just liked the event.

As far as the alchemy + pigment idea. Yes its a good idea, except that it would have to be planned out, programmed then tested, and god knows how long that would take.

Turning on the old events it just a matter of "flipping a switch", so to speak.

I go to Tok every day, and I see fair numbers of people there. We do guild hunts there (Lady of the Snow) as well as taking my tamer there to tame Fire Beetles and work pets in the Yomatsu mines (great place).

What I was getting at was people working hard and paying a lot of gold for something, only to have EA totally devalue their hard work overnight (Heritage Tokens anyone?). I would have had no problem if they gave out one or two per shard per account, but no....they gave out two per character, for every char on every shard. I had a friend decorating her house...she busted her azz for weeks to get the one mill plus a piece to buy four to get various items for the house. Three weeks later EA made them worth nothing. Think she was real happy about that? She had no problem with the gifts, but it was frustrating given the effort she put forth only to have it trivialized. I guess that's what I was getting at and not doing a good job of it.

Anywho, it doesn't matter. I am also in the camp that putting more and more items in the game doesn't do crap to draw more folks in or get them to play more. People will farm the crap out of something for a while and then quit the game or move on to something else. Do you keep needing fresh pixel crack to play the game? I am still happy killing swoops, or drags, or doing spawns or whatever. I log in every day, whether there is new content or not, because there is always something to do if I so desire. Needing fresh crack to bring folks back is a bandaid to greater issues in the game, including fixing duping, hacking, speeder, scripting, etc. etc. A lot of my friends have left over THOSE issues, and no amount of "items" will bring them back until these things are addressed. I think you will find if you fix these issues you'll get a LOT more people back on a permanent basis. Until then......nada. JMO. Oh, and FYI, some people find "fun" in the game "collecting" things, including items such as the Tok dyes, the anniversary drops, rubble, rares, etc. etc. It's not about "fresh" content for them. Different strokes for different folks.

Re: Treasures of Tokuno

I do not need pixel crack to enjoy the game. I have played for 10 years now.

But many people do want/need/expect more and more content. Maybe it is because that is what these games trended toward. But most content is added to retain paying customers. Its not for the love of the game, its for the love of money that pays the game makers salaries.

As far as your friend feeling screwed over by EAMythic because of the heritage tokens? Well what can be said but whats new. EAMythic has done this in the past and they will continue to do it. If she has played for any length of time, she should have realized this. I could go down the list of items over the years that EAMythic said was one time only, limited time offer. Thats just the way they do business.

I will agree that heritage tokens were overboard, it should have been just 1 per character if every character has to get something. But the tokens still have value. They still are running ~200k at least on Lake Superior.

As far as Tokuno being an active facet. Thats great that it active on Great Lakes. I can go for days and rarely see anyone on Lake Superior and its not like I play on a low populated shard.

Again I think we are talking at cross purposes here. I just want more people to be interested in playing UO again. If old events can bring some people back then lets try it. And like I said before I have met 5/6 brand new never played UO before people. And while they are having fun, the learning curve in UO is very steep. And since just about everyone of these new players come from that other game where everything is laid out for you. I feel that giving these new players something to shoot for keeps their interest.

I will give you an example. I took one of these new players to a legacy dungeon because I explained to them about the 10 anniversary drops. They had no idea about any of these items or that they were even available. Well we hunted for about an hour and a half. I kind of gave them a tour of the old dungeons (minus destard - greater dragon go crunch ), let me tell you when that new player got a drop finally (one of the shields) it was like omg thats so cool, dude gate me out of here, I want to check it out. Well we went back to my house and we talked about the different items they could randomly get if they continued to hunt in the legacy dungeons. They were astonished that it was not made more of a big deal. To them its new and fun, heck even to me its still fun. Getting new players in and keeping them is important. It keeps the game running and the servers active for veterans like me.

And if pixel crack is not important to you. And you have no plans to sell your collection. How would this hurt you in anyway? Heck just turning back on ToT would be an added bonus to your guild hunts on GL.

People tend to forget that the ToT system was put in to see if EAMythic could get a drop and turn in system in the game, working and stable. And if you noticed you get the same notice on 10 anniversary drops that you got when you got a ToT minor drop.

Every since AoS came in, UO has become more and more item based. That is the direction it has gone. Wether it was good for the game or not is a different discussion. But it is where we find ourselves today.

Re: Treasures of Tokuno

War, I think we are probably saying the same thing in different ways. Don't think I am mad or anything about it, please. I agree, it is EAMythic at it's finest lol. I am VERY happy to hear you find new players. I make it a point to hit New Haven everyday and chat with [young] players. In the conversation, I try to find out if they are truly new or coming back to the game after an absence, or if they are experience players messing around with a new account. A truly new or returning char will get much the same treatment you gave the player you took on the dungeon tour. They will also very often find themselves well equipped with armor/weaps/spellbooks/runebooks and some gold when I'm done with them. I want them to be successful, and, as you stated, the learning curve here is very steep. Safe travels.

Re: Treasures of Tokuno

The resources + alchemy = pigments idea can be implemented within 30 minutes... if they wanted to!

As for testing, considering the fact that EA employs monkeys, but not complete morons, testing should not take more than 30 minutes either.

Ergo (love that word!) in theory we could have craftable pigments within 1 hour from now if the devs would have a strategy and coding concept to go from.

It has always greatly annoyed me that player run shards can have tonnes of working and bug-free stuff, while the actual production shards take weeks to months to implement frak all.

Still, I guess we should be happy the game hasn't been shelfed yet, so if they take longer than they should then so be it!
