Swampy's

I was just curious after hearing 2 people talk in brit bank on Europa saying that when someone rides a swampy in exceptional Barding they take some of the damage for you?

is this true? and is it an amount that can make a difference, because at the momnent i don't really ride anything as i like to change forms in necro, unless i have a trek in which case i will get my ol' trusty bonded horse from about 4 years ago, and still alive!!!! amazingly, but anyway, i have been looking for a black coloured horse (i don't mean mare) which no one ever seems to want to sell under a few mill, which i can understand I guess as i wouldn't sell mine if i had one, but getting back to my question if Swampy's do, do this then i will be happy and get my blacksmith to make some shadow barding and get me a swampy...........

Re: Swampy's

I think it's 20% of the damage with exceptional dragon barding, 10% with non-exceptional. And it doesn't matter what colour ingots you use.

Let me see if I can find something to confirm that.

Ally is completely correct.

20% for Exceptional and 10% for non.

And the ore its' made of makes no difference.

The barding can and will break down, just like normal armor. So its good to carry a spare deed with you.

Re: Swampy's

if you get a proxy swamp dragon, he'll take 20% for you all the time i think cause his armor doesn't break down. dunno for sure, but that was one of the reasons i got one haha.

Re: Swampy's

This ridable creature comes in two different versions; armored and non-armored. Smiths can create a "Dragon Barding Deed" which can be used on an unarmored tame Swamp Dragon to turn it into an armored Swamp Dragon. The armor comes in all colored ingot colors.

The armor will provide the rider of the dragon with extra protection in combat, this is done by absorbing a percentage of all damage received. However this damage reduction only works against monsters, not against players.

To remove the armor from an armored Swamp Dragon you will have to use a bladed item like a dagger on it.

The type of ore the barding is made from does protect against certain elements. Iron is physical. Shadow protects against cold, and etc.

I didn't know that. I thought the only diff is between exceptional and non-exceptional. What about the other colours?

Re: Swampy's

Swampies also make for great friends! Think of them as a huge, overweight Norbert. They even float! My swampy is so fat that he displaces enough water from me to ride him to Moonglow via the ocean. No more need for a boat, as I just let him paddle me around. The only real catch is that he's too fat for the armor. He also takes two moongates to move him each way via gate, not one.

I think the statement that colored Dragon Barding gives different resists based on color is incorrect, although it is often repeated. None of the various discussions of Dragon Barding and Swamp Dragons mention anything other than the basic 10%/20% damage reduction: example.

Re: Swampy's

We all know that the other forum is notorious for not updating or adding relevant information. Goto Test Shard and try it out against the enviroment, because dragon barding no longer helps absorb damage in pvp. Or it will make a great question to ask the Dev's on Five for Friday.

Re: Swampy's

Oh I know about it not absorbing damage in pvp. I was more curious about the different colours and their effects.
