![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Spellweaving Question(s) Alrighty, so Anne finally started remembering she's a spell weaver and I've been playing with it some. Now I have some questions, particularly on Word of Death. I was under the impression that Word of Death was effected by the level focus you had. I thought that the higher the focus, the more damage you did with Word of Death. However, in testing this theory against several peerless and comparing notes with some spell weaving friends, it seems that the damage amount is actually based on Spell Damage Increase. So my main question is, if I get the same damage amount with a level one focus vs a level five, what does the focus do for me? Does it effect how soon you can cast Word of Death with noticeable damage? Does it effect the duration of spells such as Ethereal Voyage? I know it makes the area of Wildfire bigger but does it make it any more potent? Any answers/help would be GREATLY appreciated! ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Spellweaving Question(s) Well Cat is GM Spellweaving now. He does around 7 damage using Word of Death with no Focus. I have never had a chance to try it with a focus. So I am SURE at least level 2 focus will make a difference, perhaps after that it only adds 5% damage or something. ![]() There are no stupid questions......only stupid people! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Spellweaving Question(s) The level of focus affects durations of spellweaving spells mainly, making them last longer and thus giving you more bang for your buck (or mana). In the case of Word Of Death, a higher focus means you get the high damage at a higher percentage of the target's hit points. I know that sounds complicated but it's not, example: With a level 1 focus you have to beat up your target until it has only 5% of its hit points left, and only then will WoD do big damage. With a level 4 focus WoD will start doing big damage once the target is down to 20% of its hit points. And so on. The actual amount of damage done by WoD is augmented by SDI, but SDI won't let you get the big damage any sooner. The focus determines that. ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Spellweaving Question(s) Cool! That's kind of what I was thinking but thank you for confirming that. Now, the next question, if you don't mind, what about the other Spell Weaving spells? What effect does the focus have on that? Just duration? I've noticed with Ethereal Voyage it seems the higher the focus the longer the duration but I'm not positive. For the life of me, I can't figure out anything useful for the stuff like WildFire and Thunderstorm. But then again, I do keep forgetting I even HAVE Spell Weaving so...........LOL ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Spellweaving Question(s) Let's see if I can remember 'em all... what a higher focus does for Spellweaving spells: Ethereal Voyage - longer duration Wildfire - bigger radius, longer duration, more damage. Remember you can actually stack these, a couple of spellweavers wildfiring house hiders can be amusing ;) Gift of Life - longer duration Summon fey/fiend - I think the summons last longer and are stronger Nature's Fury - as above Gift of Renewal - heals more and lasts longer Immolating Weapon - more damage, longer duration Attunement - absorbs more damage Thunderstorm - more damage, longer effect, larger radius Reaper form - more SSI, SDI and resists Essence of Wind - longer duration, bigger radius, more damage Dryad Allure - better chance to succeed in charming Word of Death - target can have 5% more hit points per focus level, refer to how WoD works in my previous post Arcane Empowerment - increases healing and damage boost, longer duration Some of those may not be 100% accurate but you get the basic idea ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Spellweaving Question(s) Ok Adrianna, so how is it that the Cat In The Hat(My Necro Mage Spellweaver) only does 7 damage to peerless when their HP is totally redlined(like no blue on the bar). This is without a focus, I have tried it with a level 1 focus(just focused by myself and I got the same result). So am I missing something or is Cat just all messed up? ![]() There are no stupid questions......only stupid people! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Spellweaving Question(s) Hmmm... I honestly can't say what's wrong, though using no focus at all will make WoD really rubbish since even with a level 1 focus you have to have the target down to like 5% of hit points... I usually only get a level 1 focus myself, hardly ever find others to work with... and WoD works just fine for me once the target is down enough. Doesn't need to be redlined, just down to a really slim sliver of blue on the bar. Should do around 300 damage without much any SDI. If it's not happening for you, I really can't say what's wrong, sorry. ![]() ![]() |
