Exclamation So I gave it the true test...

I logged onto my Sam Pally to do a leather gathering run in Destard. A long time favorite time killer in UO.

Set up my hotkeys, grabbed my gear, and hit the road. I was thoroughly underwhelmed.

Up to this point, I had just been using KR on Test doing some general futzing about; testing options, playing with the display, oohh-ing and aaahhh-ing at the new art, finding bugs and sending reports, etc.

I ran into several problems:

1. I seem to be moving much slower in KR than I do in 2d. Not a real lag issue, but my mount seems to actually not move as fast. I thought that maybe I just had the scren zoomed out a bit, but no. I swapped clients and saw that it was true.

2. Without the UOA bandage timer, I have no idea if my bandage has dropped yet or not. I jumped the gun and restarted it more than a few times.

3. Honoring mobs is a pain! Im constantly getting "Failure to find path" or "Too far away" messages when they shouldnt be popping up.

4. This might be specific to "larger" mobs, but it seemed like there was a very small are that I could click to open the corpse and I had to be VERY close to do so.

5. The System window gets too cluttered too fast. We need to be able to color certain text so that you dont need to actually read it. Like when a spell effect fades...

6. While I like the general idea of the tiled backpack, things are constantly moving around in there and not staying where I put them. Every time you loot an object that is gonig to stack with what you currently have in there (gold, leather, gems, etc.) they drop to the bottom of the back. Kind of annoying, moreso because the container gump isnt resizable to be able to see your entire inventory at once.

7. At one point I logged out and logged back in and went back to fighting. I almost died because my Bandage hotkey that had been set to Self had defaulted back to Current so I was trying to heal the dragon I was fighting.

Ive really been trying to keep a positive outlook on KR and whatnot but that feeling has been sliding away from me ever since that night...

One nice thing was that the Evasion duration is borked so I was getting much longer stretches than I should have been at my skill level...hehehe. Didnt send in a bug report on that one.

Sounds like more pains that just need some development love.

Except that honoring thing, it pretty much gets borked in 2D also.

Re: So I gave it the true test...

I'm glad you found all those bugs and reported them.
What kind of macro did you use for bandage self?
No timer to see how long it takes is horrible! Same thing with being over weight etc. If they said KR will do everything UOA will do, then it should, or let Tugsoft work on UOA for KR

I just dropped my bandages onto the number 3 in the first hotbar.

I was going to do a distance test. like WBB to Brit Moongate on each client and see how much if any difference there was. I figure if I stick to the road there will be very little room for error...

My Lord!

I just went and did that test and I encourage everyone to do the same thing. I went from the Southwestern corner of WBB to the end of the bridge heading toward the stables/moongate.

KR- 10.84s, 10.86s, 11.03s, 10.23s, 9.97s, 11.08s Avg=10.62s

2d- 7.93s, 7.51s, 7.64s, 7.60s, 7.70s, 7.59s Avg= 7.66s

Not only is it a hell of alot faster, there isnt nearly the degree of variation...I find this quite interesting...
