Returning to UO...what should I install?

Hello UO fans...I've been needing an MMO to play and when I saw that UO was still up and running I was pleasantly surprised. I haven't played since 98/99 (prior to any expansions) and am looking forward to playing again.

I am currently downloading UOKR, but after reading several threads it sounds like I should be downloading a different client. Could someone please tell me what exactly I should download and install to play efficiently?

Hiya, Welcome back to UO

you'll need to pay for the expansion but i'd recommend getting Mondains Legacy, it has all the newer items included like playing as an elf and new items to craft.

Thanks for the reply. I started to download Mordains but cancelled it when I found the link to KR. Considering the filesize difference it makes sense now to know that it's just an expansion.
Is KR the preferred client? is there a separate client for 2D? is 2D or 3D preferred by players?

KR is catching on. Wouldn't call it the preferred client yet. The only choices for clients are 2D and KR. When you download Mondains Legacy you will get the 2D client.

At the moment I'd say 2D is still the most used client. KR is supposed to be the future, though. At the moment it is purely a choice of personal taste. After you installed the client of your choice and opened or reactivated an account, in order to access the new content of the extensions you will probably have to buy an code to unlock the extension content.

My advice would be to dl WoW or LOTRO instead

sorry couldnt resist the sarcasm! 2d is a better client for me anyways.

I've already played WoW and lost interest...twice. And I'm not into LOTR so that wouldn't interest me. I think I just like the nostalgia of UO, probably why I haven't bothered to install KR yet and have just been playing 2D. Not sure how long it will last, we'll have to see if I make it past the 14 day trial.
