Hi all just looking for some advice as i hear some many mixed views about Official UO these days. The last time i played UO i think was in 2004 so a lot of things have changed and lots of new skills but is the basic gameplay still the same? Will i be able to adapt to all of the new changes and skills?
Is PVP item based? Do newbies stand a chance in the cruel world?!

I want to be a Melee/Thief would is stealing pointless with insurance around?

Can you give me an overview of the game are things going good? lots of pvp? Just let me know the good/bad features of the UO today please.

I also quit in 2004ish and returned late 2006 the game play is the same imo, but there is just so much more to do now......

PVP is item based but you can still do ok with run of the mill items, can do alot more with a templet these days though..can easly adapt to the changes......personaly i think it is easier for newbies/returning players now with all the added content/areas to accuire wealth/items....

i know a melee thief on catskills that has been playing that type char for a long time since well before i quit and he is still at it today, granted i doubt he gets the greatest of steals but it looks like he is having a blast to me...

i think the game is going strong with so much to do and with the upgrade in graphics coming out in KR it may improve more....pvp is still fun at least on catskills, it has changed alot and you rarely see a duel but you can usually find people to fight ...

I have an old mage which i have GM'd on Catskills but seeing as im from Europe i will go onto Europa i think.
I have read you can only gain 3 stat points a day? True? if so that will take ages to complete a character. I kind of like to work at my own pace which is fast! :grin:

I think adv char tokens are worth it for bards and tamers but most of the fightings skills are pretty easy to raise up.

Welcome back to uo! I returned to Uo this year after 4-5 years holiday.. Took me alittle while to get my head around some of the new things, but its still a classic game! Loads more hard stuff to kill, liches use necro! Loads of new quests and such.. there is always something to be doing...

If your a roleplayer there are still quite a few old guilds around and a few new ones... (Psssst join Vesper! ) Roleplay isnt what it used to be, but its still good fun
