I'm trying to reconstitute my old guild. The guild was dead; when I logged back on I was the first guild member to do so in over a year or so. I've resigned and now the guild no longer appears on search on UO. However I still can't use the name. Surely if members are no longer active in the game they don't count? or do they? if so thats bloody stupid grrrrr

i believe that if you resigned and there were absentee members still in the guild, then the guild name is still being used.. however absentee they are. it will probably take one of them logging in and taking over guild by right of vote and then disbanding it to drop the name from the uo roster.

What was the exact name of the guild? The various profanity filters and such have changed a lot so it could be the name simply isn't allowed anymore and it existing before was just a legacy thing since you hadn't logged in for ages.

I mean stuff like having 'assassin' in a guild name/title isn't possible thanks to that three-letter synonym for your backside embedded in there

yes it seems that way, though frankly how a guild that only has deactivated accounts in it keeps going is silly; the name should just be wiped after a certain amount of time

Right, so seems it's just a case of there still being members in the guild, thus it's not fully deleted.

To get rid of a guild the GM should kick out all members and finally resign themselves, once no members are left, the guild goes poof. If the GM simply resigns, the other members are still left there and someone else gets promoted to GM, I think.

You can always use a slightly altered version of same name.. like Eldritch Legions (E-L) or (E^L) or something like that.. : )
