Ok Im trying to help a freind of mine log into and try KR she downloaded it all fine installed patched all fine Then when she clicks ok to play it goes to a black full screen she has no control over her mouse then she gets an error Hardware Renderer error then she clicks ok then she gets Software renderer error Something bout poor performace and something bout her graphics may not be compatable Then she clicks ok and the whole thing closes out..Funny thing is she has 2 gigs of memory dual processor and NVidia GeForce FX 5500 Video card ..So whats the problem ? And Help Would be appreciacted We have tried fro 2 days now and cant find any answers anywhere..

Does she have all the latest drivers for her video card? I was getting the black screen too and couldn't move until I updated everything.

I had her download the latest drivers Im not sure If she uninstalled the ones she had already Shes running On Windows XP Pro..ITS not that she cant move she cant even get to the game screen or log in The farthest she can get is the patch then after clicking ok to play It just goes to a fullscreen all black then the errors pop up Her computer is only a year old It way more uber then mine Yet Me and My hubby can Get the game to load fine..Only problem i was having was half the roads and banks were grass and dirt once I upgraded to A raidion 9600 series Im fine can see everything great...Im not seeing how it can say her grahpics card may not support seeing that when u go and look at what they want u to use Is the NVidia Card..Makes no sence to me ...

Sadly to say KR is not ready for everybody. I understand EA says it is. The truth is to many people can't get it to download, patch or play. It is not compatable with a wide range of hardware yet. It is far from being optimized and still has stability problems. If she has the latest drivers for the video card and it still will not load. Recommend she play 2D for now. Then try KR after each patch. I have two machines I play on. One can play KR the other can't. I just test the one after each patch hoping it will then be able to

With those specs she can run it. I can and my pc has less.

But. the default settings has everything up high, and with lower end graphics cards they just can't cope. Some people have succeeded in logging in by taking their char somewhere quiet using 2D then logging in and adjusting all the settings to something a bit less demanding.
Alternately start a new char on another shard or test. Here's what I'm running and the settings I use.

I also had the same thing when I was trying to test KR.
if you click (this link ) it will show the specs on your PC,and will have [ hopefully] nice little ticks alongside it all.
I had a cruppy vid card,but got an updated one,and although I still lag bad in KR at least I can log on to it now,to at least have a look around and see the new stuff after patches.
I still play 2d though, as I would never be able to pvm with KR atm.
Post the EasyInfo page back here when its done, then we might be able to see what the problem is.

Hiya Tabbs. Just a quick question... out of curiosity I clicked on that link to see if my work comp would run KR.

It shows I have XP Pro SP2 (I'm running Windows 2000 SP4)
IE 7 (I have IE 6)
almost everything is different

Is this the same EasyInfo that should be somewhere in the UO folder?

I clicked the link too. It is a static page for someone elses machine.

Okay, so it's not just me. I'll try and see if there's a link somewhere in the uowebsite to access the EasyInfo program.

Oh and according to the Knowledge Base, here is the minimum requirements to run KR:

I thank you all for ur replys..Its so wierd that my computer has way less then hers and hers exceeds the min req by far..I can log ina nd play KR just fine so can my hubby...When One of us has a problem with the patch going thro we just copy over our files to the other computer and vola ...But our friend wanted to try and play so she can see the kr graphics to see if they like It enough to keep there accounts...So I asked her if she uninstalled her video card drivers before she installed the updated drivers she said no...So shes gonna uninstall the NVidia GeForce FX 5500 drivers and try a fresh install of the updated drivers and see if that will allow her to get the game to load...I will post back once i hear from her to see if that helped
