I see a lot of dyed rune books but never the originals...can you still get the originals anywhere?

You can use a runebook dye tub and set it to default color (or something along those lines, it's easy to see on the list). It will dye it back to the original color.

Yes, runebooks originally come out with the colors you describe when first created. As stated, a runebook dye tub is often used to change colors of runebooks and even runes.

Neon colors? I do not know exactly how that is done, but have a pretty good source for them for some specialty (filled) runebooks to specific locations.

Neon colours can't be made anymore, they were created using a bug with the dyetubs which was subsequently ironed out.

Precisely, and since people were selling them for huge amounts of gold each (for the neon runebooks themselves), this one was one of the UO:SE high-priority fixes.

I accidentally renamed a nifty runebook that was done in HTML before they removed the ability to do so. It was 'GM Cochese's Runebook', in blue lettering.

I really liked that runebook's name. Now it's just plain old boring runebook text hue.
