Question about npc containers

You know the trunks in the inns, the buckets at wells and the lil red boxs in some grave yards. If one was to put something in them how long would they last before decaying? Anyone know. I know it decays but I havent a clue how long it stays before it does.

It is beleived to be 2 hours I think.However remember others can take things from them also
